For treetop views close to Red Frog marina, walk a couple of kilometres over to Bastimentos Sky Zipline Canopy Tour for high-adrenaline trips through the canopy and fantastic vistas over the local area. Back at the marina, take the water taxi over to the town of Bocas del Toro Town (crossing time 10 minutes) to experience its food and drink scene or to board other boats out to undiscovered isles and the Panamanian mainland. Stick around in Bocas if you'd like to see Plastic Bottle Village (five kilometres from the port), an intriguing eco village made almost entirely out of recycled materials. Once back at base, you might like to turn your attention to Bastimentos Island itself, most of which is a well-preserved national park. Home to monkeys, sloths, caimans and tropical birds, plus rarer species like endangered sea turtles, this 13,000-hectare habitat has many excellent offshore diving and snorkelling opportunities. The coral-fringed coast around Cayo Zapatilla, a tiny uninhabited isle just off Bastimentos, makes a particularly excellent day trip if all you want to do is see fish and experience nature in all its diversity.
