Camping Le Parc des Chênes

As Var holiday destinations go, La Croix-Valmer is a particularly fine one – it’s within easy reach of the area’s gorgeous beaches and seaside towns but just far enough away to keep it nicely peaceful. On the edge of the town (about five minutes' walk from its shops, restaurants and other amenities) is Camping Le Parc des Chênes, a family-friendly holiday park where the comfortable and well-equipped lodges make a great base for a break in this popular area. Tucked among the trees for shade and a peaceful vibe, each lodge has its own bathroom and kitchen area as well as bedrooms and a comfortable living space with TV. To make life easy, bed linen, towels and kitchen kit are all provided, and there's both heating and air conditioning to keep the temperature just right. Outside, there's a nice covered terrace with a table where you can have a drink or meal in the open air while still keeping cool. If that's not enough to restore your cool, how about a dip in the site’s open-air swimming pool, or perhaps a drink from the bar? If, on the other hand, you need a little more activity, head to the tennis court, the pétanque court or (for the kids) the play area. Other handy facilities on site include a launderette and a wifi service. Heading out and about? Some of the area's best beaches are within a 10-minute drive, and there are lots of lovely hiking and cycling paths around the local area too. You may like to spend some time exploring pretty local villages like Gassin, Ramatuelle and Grimaud, or perhaps head off to glitzy Saint-Tropez for some celeb spotting.

Lokale seværdigheder

There’s an excellent collection of beaches close by – Débarquement beach, Sylvabelle beach (both five minutes' drive) and Gigaro beach (10 minutes) are some of the favourites, all with family-friendly sands and usually not too crowded. For something a bit livelier, set off to Saint-Tropez, where the beaches have watersports and bars and the streets and harbour are often full of glamorous goings-on. Elsewhere along the coast, you may like to go scuba diving from Cavalaire-sur-Mer (10 minutes), take a walk through Cap Lardier nature reserve (half an hour) or board a boat in La Tour Fondue (40 minutes) to the Hyères Islands, best explored on foot or by bike. Family outings nearby might take you to the amusements of Azur Park (15 minutes), the treetop courses of Acrobatic Adventure Park (15 minutes) or the exotic animals of Tropical Zoo (40 minutes).
