As well as the caravan park’s pools and games, there’s plenty to keep kids amused close by. Head for the Parc d’Attractions Aquatic Landes (10 minutes’ walk) for its wave pools and twisting water slides, and there are wolves, flamingoes and donkeys at Zoo Labenne, plus a fine sandy beach at Plage Centrale de Labenne (both five minutes’ drive). If you’re not travelling by car, you can explore locally on bikes hired at the site. There are plenty of kid-friendly pursuits in the famous and lovely seaside resort of Biarritz (35 minutes) too, from running around on a seemingly endless series of Atlantic beaches to feeding seals in Biarritz Aquarium (40 minutes) or enjoying the funky interactive art installations at the contemporary Cité de l’Océan (half an hour). Biarritz also offers plenty for romantic days out as a couple: you can try Basque cuisine in its many restaurants, attend a performance at the La Gare du Midi theatre (35 minutes), or simply pick a waterfront bar and watch the sun set over the ocean and the landmark Rocher de la Vierge (40 minutes), topped by a statue of the Virgin Mary.
