Your main mission when at this hostel is to explore the Mokolodi Nature Reserve on a game drive or during a rhino and giraffe tracking experience. There are also bushwalking tours for boosting your chances of getting up-close sightings of birds and other small creatures. Once you’ve had your fill of ambling with the animals, admire the authentic local wares in Gaborone’s Botswana Craft Centre (a 20-minute drive). The country’s capital is also the go-to spot for learning about the nation’s history – don’t miss The Three Dikgosi Monument, depicting a trio of important tribal chiefs, and the National Museum and Art Gallery. Finish days out in decadent style with drinks at the Gaborone Yacht Club, a lovely location for a beverage or two. Alternatively, if you still have bags of energy to use up, climb the 1,287-metre Kgale Hill – known locally as "The Sleeping Giant" – for stunning city views.
