In need of a Devon des res with smashing views? Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is a quiet site in the hills above Lynton and Lynmouth in the Exmoor National Park. As it's got direct access to the A39, it's a top contender if you're looking for a base to explore the Devon and Somerset coast. Needless to say, there's plenty of stunning scenery around here: keep your eyes peeled for resident wildlife like wild ponies, red deer and birds of prey. The surrounding countryside is also full of trails for rural rambles, including the long-distance South West Coast Path. Dogs are welcome at the site and direct access to footpaths makes it a breeze to keep Fido fit and healthy. Lynmouth Holiday Retreat has plenty of practical benefits too: facilities include a food shop, wifi, a washing-up area and a launderette to keep your gear spick and span. If you find yourself getting peckish, feel free to set up a barbecue, order a takeaway or head down into Lynton (five minutes away) to stock up at the supermarket. You'll likely want to linger here for a stroll around its picture-worthy cottages, fishing boats and genteel Victorian buildings. Alternatively, forage for your own supper by taking the kids crabbing down at Lynmouth harbour (five minutes' drive).

Syntes om Excellent facilities, looked brand new and kept clean throughout our stay. Little airstream food van for breakfast and evening meals. On site shop for essentials and staff were welcoming and friendly. Low light site so star gazing was possible on clearer nights. Very quiet after 10pm except for the local wildlife.

Syntes ikke om Would have been better if the grass cuttings were collected when the grass was cut. We walked grass into the buildings everytime and felt bad for making a mess of the really nice facilities.

Syntes om A peaceful and pretty location, some nice walks and close to a couple of costal villages and areas of outstanding beauty. Nice clean amenity's on site and friendly staff, Good food available from onsite food wagon, Reasonable phone signal for the remote location so did not use the sites Wifi. Will definatly stay again as a lot in the area to explore

Syntes ikke om Better transport links into town was given taxi firms but neither answered when we wanted to explore.. also brochure and online says shop is well equipped this was not as was told they were running down end of season but when you book a holiday that is not what you expect

Syntes om The site had beautiful views of the countryside and sea, as did our fully serviced pitch. The amenities were exceptional, very clean, all throughout the day. There was an undercover dishwashing facility with a very thoughtful touch of providing dishcloths and tea towels ( also a container to put the used ones in.)
A food van is on site, doing burgers, chips etc and breakfast rolls in the morning. Fresh coffee and pastries can be bought/ordered from reception. The van also serves cocktails and as you are on holiday... it would be rude not to participate.

Syntes ikke om Not many of the pitches have the expected views. Many pitches on uneven ground. Arduous walk to Lynton/Lynmouth. No hose in the chemical waste area. Push button showers last 3/5 SECONDS!!!!

Guests here have plenty of attractions and activities on their doorstep in and around Lynton and Lynmouth (five minutes' drive). For a novel way to travel between the two, try the funicular cliff railway that connects the twin towns. In the surrounding countryside, you can marvel at the geological formations of the Valley of the Rocks (10 minutes) or head out to the forest around Watersmeet (15 minutes) for waterfalls and an elegant Victorian tea room. Many head to this part of the country in search of outdoor pursuits, so sporty types may well be pleased to learn that Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is close to a stables (10 minutes), fishing lake (20 minutes) and golf club (40 minutes). To really get that blood pumping, hike some or all of the 14 miles along the coast to Combe Martin, a hilly stretch of the South West Coast Path that includes this trail's highest point. You may, of course, prefer a day lounging on the beach (and with beaches like these, who can blame you?). Top seaside towns nearby include Minehead, with its rockpools, and Ilfracombe with its castle and aquarium (both half an hour away).
