Wyresdale Camping

Wyresdale Camping is a simple but spacious pop-up site surrounded by splendid views of the Lancashire countryside. This lovely location (which also happens to be handily not far from the M6) is just outside the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, between Over Wyresdale and Dolphinholme. It’s a peaceful spot indeed here, and one that’s well placed for folk looking to hit the area’s walking, running or bike trails. You can set off for such expeditions pretty much straight outside the site, and then swing by the local pub (a characterful country inn less than five minutes’ drive away) for a restorative pint on the way back. More places to eat and drink are 10 minutes’ drive away in the villages of Forton and Scorton, or you could drive for 20 minutes to get to historic Lancaster. For days when you’re not out rambling or biking, there’s plenty more to keep you busy locally, including farm parks, museums, zoos and the beaches of Morecambe and Blackpool. And if you’re really all about the walking? You can hit the trails of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks with a drive of half an hour or so. This is a simple site so its only facilities are portable toilets; there’s no running water or showers, but the trade-off is plenty of space for barbecues and for dogs or kids to have a bit of a run around.
