When you fancy a walk from the shepherd’s hut at Guards Farm Hidden Huts, you’ll face a choice – should you take the short five-minute stroll out to the local beach, or turn the other way for an equally lovely wander on the moors? If that sounds like the sort of dilemma you could probably cope with, plot a stay at this cosy and luxurious adults-only glamping hut in the Cumbria countryside about five minutes’ drive south of Kirkby-in-Furness. Although kids aren’t allowed here, dogs are very welcome. As well as having a couple of lovely places within walking distance, this location is also handily placed for jaunts into the Lake District National Park – the southern edge of the park is about 15 minutes’ drive away for walks and other outdoor activities. The town of Ulverston is handily also about 15 minutes’ drive away for shops, pubs and places to eat. Before you do any of that, of course, you’ll have to manage to get yourselves off site – and that could well prove to be tricky, as it’s very easy to feel settled here. For starters, this is a working farm so you’ll have a whole lot of livestock to greet before you go anywhere. And you’ll also no doubt have to dedicate some time to looking out of the window at the stunning views. The hut’s setup is equally enticing – it’s got a kingsize bed, a sofa and a TV for chillout time, an ensuite bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen (with a fridge, induction hob and handcrafted solid oak worktop). Outside, there’s a seating area with firepit and griddle, and the crowning glory: a gorgeous wood-fired hot tub.

Syntes om We stayed for a week. The Shepherds hut was fully fitted out with everything you needed for a great stay. Kitchen facilities, En-suite bathroom, fantastic views, hot tub, peace and quiet and the most lovely hosts you could ever hope to meet. Emma and Paul were amazing and nothing was too much trouble for them. What they didnt know about where to go and what to do, probably wasn't worth knowing about. Amazing place to stay.

Syntes om Just came back from spending 3 nights at Guards Hidden Huts, we absolutely loved our stay. We are a couple in their 50s and our dog Max, who enjoyed the secure space to have a run about. The beach is a good 7-8 min walk and worth the trip. We did use the hot tub that is next to the hut, it was late at night and the string lights came on when dark. Emma and Paul are lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome. We would very much recommend you staying at Hidden Hut as we will be going back in the future...

Syntes om Anniverary break and first timers at glamping as often put off by the too many comprises.
Guards farm hidden huts truly delivered on luxury, scenery, location and hosts emma and paul so hospitable.
Attention to detail was faultless and was so nice to receive a welcomed pack of biccys, tea and coffee and bottle of prosecco. And no rush to go to supermarket as hosts provided all the everyday necessities.
Hut tub was amazing and also cooled us down. The hut was surprisingly very roomy and was like home from home.
Awesome experience to have no neighbours apart from cows and sheep. Will be definitely going back and have recommended the huts to family and friends.

Syntes om The location is so good, nice 5 minute walk to the beach. The hut is tucked beautifully on the farm with a lovely sence of privacy. Yet a 5 minute drive and you have a village with all the conveniences you may need.

The hut its self was perfectly clean and tidy with everything we needed for our stay, it felt so cozy when you are tucked up in bed.

The owners were so welcoming when we arrived and did a fantastic job of discussing the local area and recommendations on where to eat and what to see.

Also so accommodating to our two dogs whom had a nicely fenced off area around the hut so they could sit and watch the sheep.

Syntes om Unbelievable views, loved being kept company by the cows and the sheep. Emma and Paul were fabulous hosts. Enjoyed the hot tub and cooking a steak over a real fire!

This location may technically be just outside the Lake District National Park but it shares many of the same landscape features without having quite as many visitors. Close by you can wander straight out onto the moors, walk to the sands of Dunnerholme beach (about five minutes’ walk) or get your clubs in the car for a round at Dunnerholme Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive). Looking a little further afield, you can explore the wilds of Sandscale Haws Nature Reserve (10 minutes) or South Walney Nature Reserve (35 minutes), or head to Ulverston (15 minutes) for a wander along the canal towpath. And of course there’s the Lake District National Park, where you might choose to head to Coniston Water (20 minutes), ride the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway (25 minutes), visit Grizedale Forest (35 minutes) for the mountain bike trails, outdoor sculptures and Go Ape course, or find one of the multitude of scenic walking trails.
