Camping Caños de Meca

Loads and loads to see nearby, so let's get started... as well as the trekking, riding and biking of the Breña y Marismas natural park, viewsome scenes can be had from Camping Caños de Meca's nearby cliffs and two watchtowers. (Fact fans: the watchtowers, sixteenth century Torre del Tajo and nineteenth century Torre de Meca, were used to protect the coast from pirate attacks.) The nearby hilltop village of Vejer de la Frontera is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the place to go for those who dig Arabian and Andalusian architecture. More ancient stones are at 3,000 year old Cádiz, the fishing town with fortified walls, traditional Andalusian neighbourhoods, cathedral and the Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology. Other recommended highlights are the castle of Guzmán el Bueno, the Roman ruins of Baelo Claudia, the Rock of Gibraltar, the old sherry-producing cellars Jerez de la Frontera and the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art with a unique dance show. Also in the area, see the fishing village of Barbate; the villages of Zahara de los Atunes and Tarifa; the town of Conil de la Frontera and its six beaches, and, by ferry from Algeciras, the north African towns of Ceuta and Tangier.
