Hazy city days, lazy beach forays and peaceful lake-top plays… if that description ticks all the right boxes for you, then motor along to Autocamp Campus, a spacious site 15 minutes’ drive outside the Montenegrin capital city, Podgorica.
The site’s well placed to give guests plenty of choice for how to pass the time during stays: it's about five minutes from the edge of Skadar Lake National Park, home to pelicans and cormorants, as well as hiking trails, secluded rockpools and stunningly scenic island-bound monasteries. The largest lake in southern Europe is here too, so hire a kayak or book a boat tour and get out exploring.
Sand-filled days are in easy reach as well, as it’s about half an hour from base to the coastal town of Sutomore and the tourist resort of Canj, both of which have sandy beaches with spectacular vistas over sheltered bays on the Adriatic Sea.
When it’s time to rest and switch off, the site is a quiet spot where lying out under the Montenegrin sun is easy and four-legged friends are welcome (making canine cuddles part of the unwinding process). Mingling with the neighbours is a matter of strolling to the picnic tables and benches dotted around the site that make outdoor eats a piece of cake.

When ready to turn away from the urban, get started on the spectacular Montenegrin monasteries nearby: the Serbian Orthodox Dajbabe (which is partially in a cave) is the closest, 15 minutes from the site; the monasteries of Beška, Starčevo and Moračnik are on islands arrayed along the southern edge of Lake Skadar in stunning enough spots to warrant boat trips; and the stunning painted interior of Morača and the spectacular cliff-face Ostrog are both about an hour away.
Closer to home base, get to know the even more scenic parts Montenegro: the site’s 15 minutes from the Niagara Falls, 25 minutes from the mountaintop ruins of Haj Nehaj Fortress and 15 minutes from the pretty lakeside town of Virpazar.
Tipplers may want to finish hols with a drink… Luckily there are a handful of wineries within easy reach and it’s less than 25 minutes to wine tasting and tours at Šipčanik and half an hour to Radevic Estate.
