Host Adrian knows what's what around Lower Normandy and the Manche department. So he's the one to hail for tips when you're at the friendly farm site of La Rougerie, whether you're here for the Normandy landing beaches, to mooch around the surrounding Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Natural Regional Park, or to pootle around local towns like Saint-Lô and Carentan.
Or, indeed, just to farm you and the kids out for a day around site. La Rougerie covers six handsome hectares of trees, working farmland and wide open space, where you can set off on nature rambles, hitch a tractor ride, meet the farm animals or gather your own eggs from the farm's free-range chickens. You'll likely also like sitting (or snoozing) for a spell under the shade of the farm's mature oak trees: see if you can spot the one that's estimated to be a whopping 270 years old.
Whatever type of hol you're up for off site, Adrian can sort out a personalised service for your stay, and be on hand for tours of the surrounding World War II sites or trips to famed Normandy landmarks and tourist attractions. Or you could set out on day trips to Bayeux and Caen, the Cotentin peninsula, the local marshlands, the many regional markets to track down gastronomy highlights like Normandy cheese...
La Rougerie is a family-friendly and group-friendly site, a few minutes' drive from its nearest commune of Saint-Fromond. It has a heated pool, a toilet and shower block, a washing-up area, free wifi and an internet point.

Llocs d'interès
The farm is in the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Natural Regional Park, a birdwatching and boating haven of wetlands and wildlife. Its Park House in Saint-Côme-du-Mont, 15 minutes' drive from the farm, has info on the habitats and species of the marshes and dunes, as well as exhibitions, a birdwatching observatory and boat trip bookings for cruises on the Douve and Taute rivers.
Around the same distance to the north is Carentan, on the edge of the French Cotentin peninsula. There's a walking and cycling path from the town harbour to the seaside, 10 kilometres away, as well as nature trails and cycling path around the town. Arrange boat trips around the marshes from here too, or head out on a sea fishing trip after picking up a permit from the town tourist office.
For World War II heritage, the beaches of Utah and Omaha are 20 and 30 minutes away.
