Fancy a view over Morecambe Bay with your morning coffee? You got it – and it’ll still be there once cocktail hour rolls around in the evening too. As the name suggests, Bay View Holiday Park sits directly on the Lancashire coast, giving great sea views from many corners of the park. Now part of the Holgates Family Group of holiday parks, this location was once made up of two working farms – so it’s got quiet countryside all around as well as the coastline. And it’s got handy town facilities close by as well, with Bolton-le-Sands and Carnforth both just a couple of minutes' drive away. Morecambe (10 minutes’ drive) and Lancaster (15 minutes) are close by as well – and for greener times you’ll be close to walks in the Forest of Bowland National Landscape and the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales national parks. This is a place that’s been nicely designed with family holidays in mind (and yes, that includes family dogs, who are welcome to join you for a stay here. An outdoor play area and an indoor games room are on site to keep the kids entertained – and it’s only a short stroll along a traffic-free path to get to the beach for sand-based fun. Handy facilities include a launderette, a washing-up area and bathroom blocks, and there’s also a shop on site for self-catering bits (or pick up more supplies in the nearby towns). Over the weekend (Friday to Sunday) you’ll also be able to get drinks at the dog-friendly bar or settle in to the restaurant to have a meal cooked for you.

Em va agradar: Excellent site with full amenities. Fully serviced level pitch (with wifi)made life a lot easier with no filling of water butts and emptying grey waste. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Apart from the weather we had and enjoyable stay

Em va agradar: The staff are friendly and informative, polite and respectful. This was my first visit to the site everything was spotless. From the toilets and showers to the pitch absolutely immaculate we were shown to our pitch by the warden who was very helpful and pointed out the nearest pathways to the shop and clubhouse. The site is quiet after 10 and everyone seemed to respect that. Already looking to book again as we love this place

No em va agradar: Unfortunately you’re unable to have an enclosed and well contained open fire/bbq which was planned to be cooked on. This was dealt with by a particularly aggressive staff member.

No em va agradar: No view over the bay as pictures depict but is a 5-10 minute walk, bar and entertainment only open weekends, peaceful site apart from very noisy trainline really loud till about 11.30pm

Em va agradar: Excellent and very warm welcome at reception on arrival. Guide to plot was very well presented and a very warm pleasant attitude. Checked to make sure we were happy with the pitch and asked if we needed any assistance to get the van onto the pitch. Explained the electric/tv/water and waste facilities. Gave some useful information on the local area. Very good wi-fi signal on the pitch. Exceptionally clean and spacious toilet facilities.

No em va agradar: As already mentioned the wi-fi signal on the pitch was excellent, but no signal for the guests up in the reception area (Unlike a number of sites we have visited where the wi-fi near reception was good but at the pitches was either non-existent or poor at best)
So not really a dislike.

No em va agradar: Even though you can have BBQ and is off the grass - would be nice to have a camp-fire during evenings to keep warm and relax in front of the flames.

These are some lovely surroundings, and there are lots of ways to explore, from local bike rides to walks with Wreay Syke Alpacas (20 minutes’ drive) to motorised meandering with Lakeland Segway (35 minutes). RSPB Leighton Moss is popular for birdwatchers, with Lakeland Wildlife Oasis also close by for more exotic animal spottings (both 10 minutes’ drive). Keeping it all outdoors, you may like to head north to the Lakeland Maze Farm Park (20 minutes) or venture into the Yorkshire Dales National Park for places like White Scar Cave (35 minutes). Hit upon a rainy day? Get your heritage fix at places like Lancaster Castle (15 minutes), National Trust - Sizergh (20 minutes) or Levens Hall (20 minutes). The Lakeland Motor Museum (half an hour) and The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction (35 minutes) are also good picks.
