  • Quiet site on the outskirts of the small mountain town Pola de Somiedo
  • In the middle of the Somiedo Natural Park for outdoor activities
  • Spectacular scenery, nearby fishing, playground and restaurant
Who might be tempted by a peaceful park in a smashing setting of outdoor activity, in a national park and a place – sssh – not known to many? Get as active or serene as you like at La Pomarada De Somiedo in Asturias, on the outskirts of the small mountain town of Pola de Somiedo. As the town is home to the Somiedo Natural Park headquarters, it'll be a breeze to sort outdoor options from here, like horse riding and skiing nearby as well as a plentiful selection of walking paths and mountain bike routes through forests and valleys, lakes and old villages. This is also a good base for photography and wildlife watching: Somiedo Natural Park is a habitat for many species including the Cantabrian brown bear (these last can be rather elusive, so zip along to the Asturian Bear Foundation just over an hour away if you want to be certain of a furry sighting). La Pomarada De Somiedo is a green site with spectacular mountain views, plenty of space and fishing in the local river a few hundred metres away. It has free wifi, a playground and a restaurant with a takeaway service so you can munch your meals pitchside among this splendid mountainous setting. A small supermarket is also on site, and shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance. A swimming pool is 200 metres away.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Campsite was clean and tidy had good size pitches. Didn’t really meet any owner or manager just the lady from the hotel near the entrance that took our payment. Little English spoken in this small sleepy town. We enjoyed a walk to through part of the park.

Disliked: Nothing to do with campsite but was a little scary on the mountain roads getting in and out especially as we had bad weather.

Electric optional grass touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Electric optional grass tent pitch
