Spinnaker has a pool – not that you might need it given how close the site is to the coast – as well as a sports court, a playground and a motorhome service point should your wheels need a quick checkup. More hassle-free hols are sorted at the site restaurant, which dishes up tasty local food and wood-fired pizzas, and at the bar for sups pre- and post-beach. If you're sorting your own nosh, the mini market is stocked with essential bits and bobs as well as non-foodie bits like newspapers and souvenirs.

Spinnaker Village Camping is in a right handy spot for Sardinian beach holidays, minutes away from the sands of Oristano and well set for the famed and popular beaches of Is Aruttas with its white quartz sand; San Giovanni di Sinis with its Phoenician and Roman relics, and the sifted sand of S’Anea Scoada. Divers and snorkellers should hail a dinghy and delve into the waters off Mal di Ventre, the tiny island inside a marine protected area off Sardinia's coast (if you fall in love with it, it was put up for sale in 2014 for an asking price of about £1.2 million). The ancient town of Oristano, Spinnaker's local urban centre, has piles to see among its old buildings and streets: top picks include St Mary's Cathedral, the medieval Church of Saint Sebastian and the thirteenth century Tower of St Christophoros, one of the main gates of the old city walls. The restaurants, bars and summer events such as the Sartiglia carnival of the busy seaside resort of Torre Grande are within a short cycle; for day trips, Porto Cervo, Alghero, Villasimius and Carloforte are all within a couple of hours' drive.
