  • In San Bartolo Natural Park, with spectacular views of the Adriatic
  • A 25-minute walk from the beaches of Gabicce and Cattolica
  • Hire electric bikes on site or take the shuttle to the beach
How does a spacious site full of green spaces and spectacular views over a natural park to the Adriatic sea sound? At Camping Gabicce Monte, 10 minutes’ drive from the town of Gabicce Mare in the Pesaro-Urbino province of Marche, you won’t have to wonder for long. Gabicce Monte is a paradise for walkers, bikers and hikers – it’s in San Bartolo Natural Park, so there are plenty of trails and scenic routes to follow on foot or on two wheels. You can also get in your steps with a leisurely stroll to the pebble bay below the site or to Gabicce or Cattolica beaches 25 minutes’ walk away. And if you like the idea of exploring but would like to do it in as faff-free a way as poss, you can hire electric bikes on site or take the shuttle to the beach. Kids still have some energy left? Let them run wild in the on-site play area while you relax in one of the open spaces. Once you’ve worked up an appetite from all that trekking, head to the restaurant 100 metres from the site, or go a little further for bars and pizzerias. Don’t feel like leaving Gabicce Monte? Grab some supplies from the nearby mini-market and tuck in on site, drinking in that stunning view of the sea and the park.

Local attractions

When exploring the area around Camping Gabicce Monte, it’s best to start close to home. Make the trip to Gradara, a small town 10 minutes’ drive from the site, to visit the medieval fortress of Gradara Castle and walk its walls, dive below ground in the caves under the Museo Storico, and get up close with the birds of prey at Il Teatro dell’Aria. Get a feel for the history of this part of Marche at Colombarone, an archaeological site that has uncovered artefacts from the third century right through to the 19th, or explore Fiorenzuola di Focara Castle, Villa Caprile and Villa Imperiale, all within 30 minutes of Gabicce Monte. If you’re craving a more urban experience, Gabicce Monte is 50 minutes from the shops, museums, galleries and restaurants of Urbino, a walled city and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Urbino was the birthplace of the Renaissance painter Raphael and you’ll see some of his works in the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche – housed in the stunning Ducal Palace – and Casa Santi, his childhood home. If the kids are chafing at the bit, bring them for a horseback riding tour in Fiorenzuola di Focara, or just jump right to unbridled fun at one of the waterparks or theme parks nearby.
