  • Just outside Moniga del Garda, with its own beach
  • Beach, pool, tennis, pizzeria-restaurant and poolside bar
A serene, shaded and shoreside time is yours for the taking at the pretty site of Sereno Camping Holiday, in Lombardy's Brescia between Venice and Milan. It's not just any old lake either: the one within view of Sereno is the fab and world-famed Lake Garda, the biggest lake in Italy and quite rightly a popular holiday destination for centuries for peeps the world over. Sereno overlooks the south-western side of the lake, on a flat and well shaded site of five hectares with its own shoreside beach and easy access to swimming, sailing and watersports. This splendid setting is a few minutes' drive from the lakeside town of Moniga del Garda, within an hour of Brescia and Verona, and under two from Milan and Venice. Theme parks and waterparks are also popular destinations around here: book tickets for these and regional tours in the Sereno Camping reception. There's plenty to do on site when you're not at/on the lake or lazing on its accompanying beach, including a big infinity pool with whirlpool area and roomy sunbathing space alongside. Table tennis, five a side football, tennis and beach volleyball are also to hand if you can rouse yourself from your water or sunny spot, as well as bowls and miniature golf 50 metres away for slightly gentler times. A kids' club runs in high season. Sereno also has a spacious pizzeria-restaurant in the centre of the site, a snack bar by the pool for eats and drinks at all hours, and a kiosk on the beach for light bites without having to stir too far from the sand.

Electric grass and gravel pitch (lake view, XL)

Liked: Nice large pitch, semi Wi-Fi available, however the shop had next to nothing in it, the bar girl is rude although all over staff were fantastic! Pitch overlooking lake guarda but beware to go to it there are a lot of steps so not for the disabled unfortunately! Showers all ok. Small shop up the road to get some basic supplies, this site caters more for statics and holiday homes, would imagine great if you were traveling with children.

Disliked: Bar staff in morning ( rude and made no effort!)

Electric grass and gravel pitch (lake view, XL)

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked: Lucky to get one of the very few pitches overlooking the Lake - stunning views during the day and night with all the twinkling lights of Garda on the opposite side. If you like quiet and peaceful, this is the site for you. Very nice swimming pool and shower/toilet facilities excellent. Very friendly, English speaking staff on reception.

Disliked: Bit of a hike to get to the port to catch the connecting ferries around the lake, difficult direct route along the beach or mile+ walk on the road.

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked: Lovely swimming pool with slides for the children with lifeguard. Nice location next to the lake. Clean, well maintained site. The kids enjoyed the play area especially the zip line. The shop had plenty of essential items. Good sized pitches. Free good speed Wi-Fi available at pitches. Friendly staff.

Disliked: Unable to pay by card at bar. Certain areas for restaurant and bar which are not clearly marked. Live music was good but not well presented. It was supposed to be at the bar but he was sat by himself over the road for most of the night.

Local attractions

Diving and snorkelling, windsurfing, paddleboarding, sailing, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, road cycling and horse riding are all close by, or you could drive for theme park day trips to Gardaland and the CanevaWorld waterpark, each about 40 minutes away. The Sereno team can help with arranging tours and tickets to local and regional attractions as well as Gardaland and CanevaWorld: drop into the site reception to sort days on the lake via a cruise, tours of its waters by ferry, or a day in Sirmione by boat. Town and city excursions to Milan, Mantua, Manerba del Garda, Verona, Brescia and Venice are available too. A 20-minute drive or 45-minute bus ride from the site is Desenzano, a small but lively lakeside town popular for its pubs, restaurants and nightlife: Saturday's the glitziest time to get your flash gear on for a visit here to show off your best dance moves.
