  • Pinewood glamping lodges surrounded by a winery’s organic olive groves
  • A 15-minute drive to a WWF reserve; 20 minutes to the Adriatic coast
  • Buy organic products and wine on site; food shop 10 minutes’ drive
Surrounded by ancient organic olive groves on a winery in Abruzzo, you might feel quite intoxicated by the stunning scenery at Cirelli Wine Glamping. The white gravel road at the entrance is flanked by vineyards and olive groves, and sets the tone for the site: relaxing, quiet and ecological. Expect a warm welcome from the Cirelli family upon your arrival. Based on a winery, the farm is a wildlife haven with shade from olive trees, areas of untamed nature, a small vegetable garden and several animals. Still, this isn’t a back-to-basics place, although it feels almost like you’re staying in the outdoors. The pinewood lodges have an ensuite bathroom with hot water, a toilet and a shower, as well as modern furniture including a double bed and one single bed on a mezzanine level. The lodges have all-in-one heating and air conditioning or a bed warmer and blankets for chillier nights. Spaced out from your neighbours, you’ll have plenty of peace and quiet too, plus constant shade from the PVC roof. Head to the kitchen corner in your lodge for your lunch, dinner or aperitivo. The site sells organic products, and in the fridge there's a selection of wine. Other goods can be sourced at the local food shop 10 minutes’ drive away. While you’re out and about, Centro Visite Oasi WWF Calanchi di Atri is just 15 minutes' drive away. There’s a free walking route through the reserve's Badlands, worn away by erosion, with the Adriatic Sea on one side (12 kilometres away) and the Gran Sasso D’Italia mountain on the other (73 kilometres away).

Local attractions

How does simple cuisine like kebabs, cod and grilled meat accompanied by sea and mountain views sound? The Agriturismo La Casetta in Campagna (10 minutes’ drive) provides all of this. You’ll quickly find there’s a great mix of seafood, wine and local dishes in Atri (20 minutes) too. Just don’t dine so long that you miss seeing the city's art centre, city park, cathedral and sweet shop… Of course, the Adriatic coast should be very high on your list of adventures. Beaches include Pineta di Pineto (half an hour), Twenty Beach (20 minutes), Novavita Beach (55 minutes) and Chalet Luna Rossa (40 minutes). You might like to pedal between the lidos along the Bike to Coast cycle path, which can be picked up from Pineta di Pineto. A horse riding school, cycling tours and breweries are all within around 10 kilometres of the site too, so there's plenty to keep those active adventures coming. For more cities though, head to Città Sant'Angelo (20 minutes) or Pescara (40 minutes). The latter's lively seafront has 16 kilometres of golden sand.
