  • Spectacular views of the Iroise Sea and direct access to the beach
  • Half a kilometre from the watersports and sailing school of Trez Hir
  • Heated pool, library, games room and TV room
The Brittany coast is, of course, simply splendid. And so it comes to pass – again – at the seaside site of Les Terrasses De Bertheaume, which has direct access to a lush golden beach. This part of Finistère (like most of it) is just gorgeous, with beaches and craggy coast all around: half a kilometre along the coast, the sands of Trez Hir are another popular Plougonvelin spot for launching into Brittany surfing, and the beaches stretch out from the Iroise Sea which you'll be able to see from the site. If you've brought your own boat along on your Breton hol, you can launch it from the platform 100 metres away. But do take time for idling around the grounds too, as there's a heated pool as well as a library, a TV room, a games room, table tennis and table football for lazy hours on site (and a meeting room too if you're here for a busy business trip). Free wifi is available at reception. Les Terrasses De Bertheaume is a kilometre and a half from the seaside village of Plougonvelin, where there are several shops as well as a Monday market from mid-July to mid-August.

Local attractions

Getting active is most easy from here, as Plougonvelin 500 metres away has Trez-Hir beach with watersports, a sailing school, rowing boats, diving and fishing; there's a heated waterpark for something a bit gentler. You must also ramble around Fort de Bertheaume (viewable from the site) on a tidal island which has been occupied since Stone Age times. These days a footbridge connects it to the mainland and it's the venue for open-air theatre productions: if you like the Minack Theatre in Cornwall – as you surely should – this one will be a hit. The site is five kilometres from the scenic headland of Pointe Saint-Mathieu and seven kilometres from the harbour of Conquet for coastal rambles. From Conquet, sail to the nearby islands for the long beach of Blancs Sablons and the headland of Kermorvan. The area also has mountain biking trails, the GR 34 trail, and climbing along with dolphin and seal spotting at the island of Molène.
