  • Dordogne glamping among woodland and overlooking the Dronne valley
  • Under 10 minutes' drive to Brantôme and 30 minutes from Périgueux
  • Hot tub, river fishing, bike hire, and breakfast basket included
Glamping in south-west France? Peruse the site pics, say an enthusiastic Oui oui then come back to peruse the details of the spectacular site of Les Cabanes de Vaure. Such as. A stunning Dordogne setting, among woodland and overlooking the Dronne valley, half an hour's drive from world-famed Périgueux. It's a region of hikes and bike rides among peaceful countryside here too, or there are Dordogne markets and shows to investigate, châteaux (but of course) nearby, and a river close to your glamping base for swimming and fishing. If for some reason you're not sure how to start your day off when here, mull it all over along with a basketed breakfast available to all glamping units and included in the rate: a petit-dejeuner of coffee, hot chocolate, toast, fruit, honey, yoghurt and more tasty treats should get the grey cells ticking along nicely. Once you're fully breakfasted, there's river fishing to settle down at and a hot tub to settle down in, as well as loads of room around the site to roam. You could bag a packed lunch and a mountain bike to take out along the plentiful – and handsome – local trails (perhaps some time after brekkie if you've partaken rather too much of the toast and honey). Les Cabanes de Vaure is a few kilometres from Valeuil, under 10 minutes' drive from the fably scenic Dronne river villages of Brantôme and Bourdeilles: you'll very much need to put those on your Dordogne destination list too.

Local attractions

Ask the team about the local markets, flea markets and events such as flower and garden shows in the region, or set out by bike or car to investigate the local Dordogne towns and villages and the farms built with piles of regional stone. Brantôme and Bourdeilles need at least a day each if you're in the region, Brantôme for its stunning setting on the banks of the Dronne, its spectacular Benedictine abbey and its pretty stone bridge (you can canoe through town should you so wish). At Bourdeilles, there's another river setting and ancient stone bridge, as well as the handsome Château de Bourdeilles, dating back to the 13th century. At Périgueux, a designated Town of Art and History, sights include a medieval and a Roman centre, the UNESCO World Heritage Site cathedral, and Wednesday and Saturday morning markets in the Place de la Clautre. And quite a whole heap more... make the Périgueux tourist office your first stop, to pick up a carte touristique detailing the highlights of this spectacular city.
