  • Scenic site with direct access to a beach on the Adriatic Sea
  • A 40-minute drive from Split and 50 from Krka National Park
  • Two restaurants, four bars, bakery, pool, shuttle service, water taxis
If you’re hoping to find a Mediterranean spot with 101 things to do, book a stay at Amadria Park Camping, a family-friendly site less than five minutes’ drive from the Dalmatia village of Seget Vranjica on the Adriatic coast. This is a stunningly scenic part of Croatia and well worth an explore: the site operates a whole raft of tours and excursions that sail between islands, do a bit of coast hopping, wander through national parks and take guests on a Game of Thrones tour of the area around Split. There’s also a regular shuttle service, car rental and bike rental for solo adventures. Of course, leaving the site isn’t at all necessary for a blissful stay… dawdle down to the gravel beach when seaside splashing beckons, bring the kids to one of the two playgrounds when they need to get energy out, or work up a sweat on the tennis courts and cool off in the on-site pool. No need to roam far when hunger rears its head either: there are two restaurants on site for local eats and Italian fare, a cake and ice cream shop (there are no calories on hols), and four bars (that’s right, four) for knocking back cocktails, beers and wines. When self-catering more fits the mood, there’s also a supermarket-bakery – and there’s a souvenir shop for remembering every bit of this getaway too.

Liked: Cleanliness of the place spot on

Zone B fully-serviced gravel and earth pitch

Liked: Very nice campground with all the mod cons.

Disliked: Gravel pitch is not the best for a 2 man tent, gets a bit tough on the knees and a bit annoying when trying to hammer in tent pegs.

Local attractions

Has your Game of Thrones tour whetted the appetite for more Split? Stick around the stunning coastal city to explore palaces and fortresses, explore the area’s history in a handful of museums, bring the kids (or just go anyway) to the Split zoo, wander the UNESCO protected historical centre, and try out some local beers in the breweries. If beer doesn’t slake the thirst, there’s a winery about 20 minutes’ drive away, or stay on the dry by (ironically enough) putting an ocean in the way of temptation: all hands on deck for the water taxi trip (direct from site) to the spectacularly scenic UNESCO island of Trogir. Once you've had a fab few days by the Mediterranean, more controlled waves can be found 50 minutes away at the Dalmatia Waterpark in the city of Šibenik, which is a worthwhile stop in itself for museums, fortresses, an aquarium and terrarium and of course shops, bars, theatres and local eateries. Stray far from city streets within 50 minutes with lung-clearing days in the great wide open at Krka National Park – Croatia’s seventh national park, full of waterfalls, canyons, hikes, bikes, monasteries and fortresses – or a dive beneath the earth’s surface at Vranjača cave.
