Just arrived in the Ardennes? Settle down at Ardenne Camping, a fab family-friendly site located in a peaceful riverside location, and you should soon feel right at home. The site's large pitches are spaced out in a green environment that's just right for families, couples and kids coming here in search of peace and quiet. Ardenne Camping's facilities are well maintained and will allow you to feel settled in no time, with handy amenities including a well-kept play area for younger guests and a modern bathroom block with disabled access. This laidback site allows dogs to come and join you (please keep them on leads though), and barbecues are welcome if you fancy a little outdoor cook-out. Ardenne Camping is also within easy walking distance of a very pleasant riverside beach on the Maboge river – showers, barbecues and a café are all available here, so it’s a great place to spend an afternoon. While it's surrounded by nature (including an on-site orchard full of local fruit trees), this handy little campsite is only a five-minute drive from the pretty little village of La Roche-en-Ardenne, a historic hotspot with a castle, attractive waterfront and handy amenities like supermarkets, restaurants and a tourist information centre.

Liked: The surrounding are beautiful! There are stunning local walks, a map of three variations can be found in the local village. You can kayak on the river too. The facilities were modern and spotless. The owner couldn’t be friendlier, the pitches large and the on-site park was a welcomed bonus.

Disliked: You have to pay €2 for clean water and there are infrequent bus services to the local town which meant we had to drive there.

Liked: Clean site and peaceful riverside location. Level pitches with hedge boundaries. Clean facilities. Friendly check-in. Close to good local bar in Maboge.

Disliked: Insufficient (none) taps around campsite. No standard chemical WC disposable point - should not have to pay. Lack of small shop for essential items given its remote location.

Liked: Great location. Stayed in a spacious, quiet spot right by the river. Lovely clean bathrooms with a hot shower. Great facilities, washing machine and wifi were a bonus. Lovely staff on reception.

Liked: Good size pitches with electric hook up, fantastic location and views to wake up to, good showers and toilets

Disliked: Weirdly drinking water fill up was the same place as caravan waste dump, so smelt bad. Main thing is we hiked there, arrived tired and were told a pitch would be where it wasn’t, and we had to pitch up our tent amongst vans etc rather than the nicer tent area down the end by the river. Also, the rule of one tent per pitch is fine, but whilst we were there another pitch had 2 tents, meanwhile myself and my friend were cramped into one tent, so more policing or a change of the rules needed, especially since we only had 2 small tents and the pitches were large

Local attractions

Staying in the local area, you could saunter around pretty streets lined with historic stone houses in the hamlet of Borzée (10 minutes' drive) before taking the kids to peek at the wild species on show at Parc à Gibier de La Roche (10 minutes), a mini zoo dedicated to game. For cuddly encounters, there's also La p'tite Ferme Balthazard (15 minutes), a farm park where city kids can get up to speed with rural life. For riverside walks or watersports, make your way towards the Barrage de Nisramont (15 minutes), an impressive dam surrounded by greenery where all sorts of aquatic activities can be arranged. If you'd rather stick to dry land instead, a serene stroll around Parc Chlorophylle (25 minutes) may be the answer – this forest park has some brilliant trails and a great adventure playground for younger visitors. You didn't think you'd have a holiday in Belgium without sampling some beers, did you? Round off your trip by sipping on local ales at the Brasserie d'Achouffe (20 minutes), a well-regarded brewery that's home to La Chouffe, one of the most popular Belgian beers around.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs are prohibited from main facilities and amenities.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.
