Mellington Hall Holiday Home Park is owned and managed by a local family whose links with the area go back for many generations. The Hall itself and grounds were bought by the grandather of the current owners. Today the beautifully landscaped grounds provide a rural retreat which is one mile off the main road and set in beautiful mid-Wales countryside. There is scope for all kinds of activities including cycling, fishing, walking (Offa's Dyke passes through the grounds) and there is direct access to dozens of local walks. Perhaps above all you can simply relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility and the abundant wildlife here at Mellington where ducks, swans and geese swim on the pool, rabbits run freely and woodpeckers do their rounds of the trees. Kingfishers can also be spotted flitting between the trees and over the pools. Bring some binoculars!

Local attractions

Whatever time of year there is no shortage of things to do. There are hundreds of footpaths to ramble through - the more adventurous walkers should explore the remote and stunning Long Mynd in Church Stretton where views of the countryside can be seen for miles around from 1600 feet up. Try your hand at Horse Riding at Bow House Farm, or T-off at one of the many local golf courses. Try your hand at fishing in the well stocked lake within the park grounds. There are many farmers' markets in the surrounding villages such as the small and quaint town of Montgomery which also boasts a Michelin Starred Restaurant or explore the ruins of Montgomery Castle. Once worked up a thirst, try one of the many quaint tea shops for cake and scones. Bishops Castle boasts two micro breweries, the Six Bells or the Three Tuns (The Three Tuns being the oldest licensed brewery in the UK dating back to 1664). Or if you are a wine lover, then a visit to the local vineyard/café is a must and is within walking distance from the Caravan Park. You can also explore the many shops where rare books and records and gifts are galore. There are many ancient market towns to meander through such as the stunning towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow.
