  • A tiny glamping site set in a hidden valley 3 miles from the coast
  • Warm camping dens, campfires, hot showers, proper kitchen facilities
  • Set in a 3 acre meadow with wildlife ponds and walks from the door
One Cat Farm is a tiny, friendly, family run glamping site, set in a hidden valley, in West Wales, 3 miles from the beautiful beaches of Cardigan Bay. The owners have taken camping and distilled it down to the very best bits. Sit around your own campfire and cook up a barbecue feast or a delicious hot stew using the outdoor cooking equipment. Hang out in the hammock with a good book or go for a walk. The converted Pig Shed is a short walk from each den and provides a warm, communal space for cooking, eating, relaxing and meeting new people. Here there is a well-equipped kitchen with two four-ring gas hobs, a large fridge, food storage, and an enormous dining table. The kitchen has all of the cooking essentials needed for preparing your meals. There is also a sofa, a wood burner (which is stoked up in cooler weather), lots of information on the local area and a little shop selling basics to rustle up a quick meal. Next door are the flushing loos and shower rooms. Simple shower rooms with everything you would need - hot, powerful showers, basins with hot and cold running water. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are provided as well as hand soap, hand towels and shower mats. Outside the Pig Shed there is a big firepit for groups wanting to gather round the fire together and picnic tables to enjoy the views. Warm and dry all year round, the dens and the Pig Shed are stuffed with insulation and feature double glazing and electric heating, and are warm even in subzero temperatures and cool in the summer. Turf roofs help the dens to blend in to their environment and provide excellent sound insulation. One Cat Farm is a quiet campsite. It is not affected by noise or light pollution.

Local attractions

There are beautiful walks and cycling on its doorstep. Walk down to the local village through an oak forest, passing a waterfall on your way and ending up in a secret walled garden. Or walk up the hill from where you can see down to the local town of Aberaeron and the coast. Aberaeron is the local town, 3 miles away, providing good restaurants, boutique shops and all the essentials. It's a pretty little Georgian Harbour town famous for its brightly painted houses and honey ice cream. If you fancy a good long(ish) walk or an easy cycle then you can wander down to the town from One Cat Farm along footpaths and the old railway line, avoiding main roads and passing the National Trust property of Llanerchaeron. The area has lots of beautiful empty sandy beaches within easy reach. Spend the day on the beach, spot some of the famous resident dolphins. Explore the coast path which links up every beach, eat fish and chips on the harbour walls. Head inland and you can reach the wilderness of the Cambrian mountains or the beautiful Hafod Estate with its winding walks, caves and tumbling waterfalls. There are three nature reserves within an hours drive from the site. Or head to one of the local towns of Aberystwyth (National Library of Wales, Arts Centre, Museum, Cliff Railway, Victorian Promenade, Castle) or Cardigan (market town, St Dogmaels Abbey, Cardigan Castle).
