  • Peaceful back to basics farm site on the edge of the Vale of Pewsey
  • 20 minutes’ drive to Marlborough; 40 minutes to Stonehenge
  • Dog-friendly site with plenty of bridle paths and footpaths for walks
Suddene Park’s peaceful camping fields are just the spot for a taster of rural Wiltshire life. With glorious views across open countryside and horses grazing in the surrounding fields, you can wander bridle paths to explore the farm, or venture out to industrial landmarks like Crofton Beam Engines and Wilton Windmill. It's a very simple setup on site here – running water and wastewater/rubbish disposal facilities are provided, but please note that there are no toilets or showers so you'll need to be completely self-sufficient on that front. Bring your well-behaved dogs (but please keep them under full control around livestock on the farm) or come alone – either way, there are plenty of walking routes challenging and gentle nearby. You can meander Savernake Forest footpaths, potter along the Kennet and Avon Canal, or clamber up to the 1930s White Horse in the Vale of Pewsey. And of course, Wiltshire is full of prehistoric settlements: Stonehenge and its smart new visitor centre, Avebury, Silbury Hill and several long barrows are all within a 40-minute drive. Traditional thatched pubs in the sleepy villages of Wilton and Great Bedwyn are known for their superb food, and the historic town of Marlborough has restaurants aplenty and posh shops, as well as supermarkets for picking up bits and bobs (all are less than 20 minutes away by car).

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked: Well kept site , large pitches , great view , great walks from site

Disliked: Sadly one group with dogs off leads on site , owners leaving them to run around & scaring other dogs on site, fowling & not always picking up , site owner told them on leads at all times due to this & going up to horses on farm side , basically they ignored this , not inforced again.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Peaceful location Surrounding scenery Freindly reception. It is a fairly small back to basics site with facilities limited to electric hook ups, Chemichal toilet emptying point and waste bins. You will need to rely on your own facilities to stay here but if you happy to do so you will thoroughly enjoy your stay amongst some delightful scenery.

Disliked: Sloping ground. Whilst I wouldn't hesitate to go and stay on this site again, it slopes in two directions meaning that you need to bring plenty to put under the wheels to get the caravan level.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (two person)

Liked: Peace and quiet, friendly and helpful staff, and the fact that Rambo the dog came round every day to check up on me. Situated just outside Burbage, pub, garage and mini shop all close by, Marlborough is just a few minutes away.

Disliked: A shower block would be nice, but I knew beforehand what to expect, it wasn't a problem.

Wiltshire also has some lovely towns that are well worth exploring.
