  • Luxury family-friendly bell tents, five minutes’ drive from Chippenham
  • Nature trail on and around the site with free activity packs for kids
  • Kingsize bed, coffee maker and fridge; bench and barbecue pit outside
With home comforts to suit the grown-ups and activities to keep nippers entertained, Roe Deer Fields, in Kington Langley, has Wiltshire family glamping hols covered. If you’re a big fan of your bed and relish lazy duvet mornings (or entire days), the kingsize bed with luxury linen will be a welcome sight here, and the handy mains electric means you don’t have to go far to rustle up your morning caffeine fix – there’s a coffee machine with coffee, tea and sugar, as well as a crockery station and fridge with milk. Hot chocolate and mini marshmallows (surely a glamping necessity) are also provided. If you don’t fancy having your brew in bed, there’s also a sofa and coffee table, and the tents come with a dressing table, mirror and stool, too. Outside, there’s a picnic bench, parasol and barbecue pit, so you’re all set for alfresco eats. The home comforts continue in the communal amenity block, with flushing toilets, hot showers and sinks. And there are more shared areas at Roe Deer Fields if you’re in the mood for some mingling: get comfy in the snug, an outdoor seating area under a canopy, or plonk yourselves down in the picnic spot while the kids blow off steam in the play area. Tiddlers can also get creative in the arts and crafts tent, stocked with plenty of paper and crayons, or embark on Robbo Roe Deer's Nature Trail, which is set on and around the site (kids get an activity pack to aid their explores). There are treats for the adults, too, with pampering at the on-site beauty room.

2 bedroom bell tent

Liked: The space, thought and care that had gone into the site. Both Matt and Nikita were hugely welcoming and there were constant surprises. Nothing was too much and it was lovely to just be able to have a stress free stay

Local attractions

Once you’ve completed the nature trail, explore more of the countryside by setting off on one of a number of pretty walks and public footpaths from the site. Several of the nearby villages can be reached within half an hour’s stroll, so put your best foot forward… and make a couple of pitstops at the pubs along the way. The site is also sandwiched between two of Wiltshire’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the Cotswolds and the North Wessex Downs – so there are plenty of other scenic opportunities for walking, cycling and horse riding. A trip to one of the surrounding towns and cities is another good shout, with the likes of Chippenham, Bath, Devizes, Royal Wootton Bassett and Swindon all within 35 minutes' drive. For some whopping buildings and gorgeous greenery, check out Lacock Abbey (15 minutes), Bowood House & Gardens (20 minutes) or Great Chalfield Manor and Garden (25 minutes). More kid-friendly days out can be had at Butterfly World (20 minutes), Atwell-Wilson Motor Museum (20 minutes) and Roves Farm (35 minutes).
