Red Sky at New Manor is a peaceful rural site right on the edge of Chew Valley Lake, a half-hour drive from Bristol, and it’s a smashing base for exploring gorgeous Somerset countryside. This family-friendly glamping spot is in the grounds of New Manor Farm Shop and Tearooms, and it’s also close to the Mendip Hills. Bell tents are set up on a spacious camping field, so there’s plenty of privacy and little noise to be heard from your neighbours. They come fully furnished – with proper beds too – and with well-maintained shared facilities including water points, showers and loos (please bring your own toiletries and towels). Barbecues are provided, but please note that the site is glass-free for safety reasons. Start your Somerset explorations down by the lake, internationally recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, thanks to all the bird species, plants and insects you’ll (hopefully) see. As well as the wildlife, the lake is a popular spot for fishing or sailing (guests can organise sailing sessions in advance through the lake's sailing club). Away from the site, you can explore historic villages down leafy lanes on foot or by bike, climb in nearby Cheddar Gorge or Burrington Combe, or even surf at The Wave, 30 minutes away by car.
