General

  • In a rural peaceful area with easy access to shops and local pubs
  • Walks through an orchard with stunning views of Somerset
  • Restaurant 200 yards away

Somerset camping… even the phrase sounds peaceful. Add in an orchard and – well: all is sorted for peaceful somerset stays. (And spectacular views too, of course.)

West Down Orchard Touring and Camping Park is a family-run site set deep in green Somerset countryside, in a 12-acre orchard with those spectacular views. This is the place to settle for rest, relaxation and splendid walks throughout the nearby farmland and countryside lanes; dogs are welcome on site too.

Pitches here drain well even in heavy rain, to suit camping in all weathers, and are generously sized with plenty of room around. The park has a big and up to date facilities block with separate ladies' and gents' areas and free hot showers, and a laundrette with washing machine and tumble dryer.

The small on-site shop stocks daily essentials, a restaurant is just down the road and the local pub is a mile away.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Electricity is metered on site at 20p per kwH and must be paid at check-out.

Roy and Cass look after the site now. Lovely people who go out of their way to ensure your stay is enjoyable. Beautiful site area with lots of hard standings with EHU. Lots of grassed areas for camping and has a cider orchard on two sides that is very pretty at this time of year covered on blossom .It is very quiet with a small shop on site and a local fresh veg and specialist food and drink shop a very short walk from the site that has a cafe. Petrol station about a mile away too. Showers and loos are always nice and clean with plenty of paper toweling and soap. Further upgrades to these areas are in the pipeline. The grounds are very well kept but with an eye to ecology as you will see bunny rabbits enjoying the area as you drive in. We have been to this site several times now and it gets better and better each time.

    Disliked:

Absolutely none , though Roy did say he could not alter the weather as it rained heavily at times

No Wifi at present though that is also planned very soon.
