Life is rosy indeed for guests at Rose Farm Holiday Park, a Somerset site reserved for adults only (and any well-behaved canine chums they may wish to bring along for the ride). Without kids getting underfoot, there’s a peaceful and chilled-out vibe on site: pulling up a camp chair, opening a bottle of your choice and taking in the views over farmers’ fields towards either sea or hills is highly recommended here. Getting in and out should be fairly stress free too, as the site is in a most handy location a couple of miles from the M5 and A38. Once you've viewed the views from afar it's a cinch to get out for a closer look – the park, just between the villages of Brean and Berrow, is an easy stroll from a sandy stretch of Somerset coast and within a 20-minute drive of the resorts of Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare. Prefer to turn attentions inland? Within half an hour's drive you can be tramping the trails of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or checking out spectacular Cheddar Gorge. Back at base, any thirsts and hungers can be dealt with over meals and drinks at the licensed clubhouse, which is also the place to gather with fellow guests for sociable evening entertainment over the weekend. A launderette, wifi connection and heated shower/toilet blocks are among the other facilities, and there’s a good network of tarmac pathways linking all the bits together to ensure everything is easily accessible.

Local attractions

Begin your break with a bimble along Berrow beach, a short stroll away. The sands here stretch off into the distance for many a mile, so it’s a fab choice for a long coastal walk – all the way out to the ruins of Brean Down Fort if you’ve got a couple of hours to spare. If your seaside days aren’t complete without a promenade on the pier, head to Burnham-on-Sea (five minutes’ drive) or Weston-super-Mare (20 minutes) for traditional resort-based frolics. There are some splendid fishing spots in Burnham-on-Sea for folk who've brought their rods along; if it's golf clubs you're lugging around, there are two courses to pick from within a five-minute drive. Walkers can give their boots a workout in the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (20 minutes), the Quantock Hills AONB (45 minutes) or Exmoor National Park (an hour). Cliffs and caves more your style? Head to Cheddar Gorge (half an hour) or Wookey Hole (40 minutes) for some spectacular geology. More in the mood for city visits? Bristol and Wells are both around a 45-minute drive away.
