Real camping, with a reasonable price tag. There are limited frills at this friendly, farm-based site - it’s basically a large field with water supply and a couple of eco-composting loos (bring your own toilet tent if staying for two or more nights) - but guests can use the showers, bar and sports facilities in the sports centre over the road. There’s also a farm shop and tea room selling lovely grub, including a bumper fry-up with home-grown bangers and bacon.
Redlands Farm is relaxed and uncrowded, with verdant views, yet really close to Weymouth (a good place to splurge all the money you saved on your pitch...)
Nearby attractions and activities
Redlands residents can either walk into Weymouth - a mile and a half away - or hop aboard one of the local buses that pass the site every ten minutes. It’s a classic seaside resort, with a great sandy beach, three-mile prom, donkeys, Punch and Judy, pedaloes and the like, plus a sea life park, theatre and cinema. There are good sporting facilities too, including an indoor pool, bowling alley, tennis and golf, plus deep sea fishing trips from the busy harbour. From here, visitors can also take a trip over to the Channel Islands on one of the local ferries.
Portland, six miles from Redlands, was the venue for the Olympic and Paralympic sailing events, with sailing and windsurfing schools as well as regular spectator events. Kite surfing and scuba diving are also on offer in the area.
The countryside around the campsite is good for walking, and there’s an RSPB nature reserve about a mile up the road.

Liked: Nice country setting, yet convenient for town. Compost toilets clean and didn't smell as expected. Very reasonable! Great fry in the morning. Disliked: As top of hill fills up pitches end up on slope, so you have to think about the position of your tent / sleeping arrangements. |

a nice campsite, good location samshunt18 (Family with older children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The location was fantastic, views were lovely and a 10 min walk to Morrisons and a 40 min walk to Weymouth beaches. Disliked: The showers - they were not on site, and this is not clear on the booking info - they were okay and not a huge problem, just by the time you had walked back it kind of negated the fact you had, had a shower x |

Lovely site Angielyons (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: This was the first time we went camping as a family. We have two daughters aged 7&9. The field where we camped was just what we wanted. No crowds or noisy campers. The few we met were friendly and one chap gave us some really good camping tips! I hope we can come again sometime. It would be nice if we could have a look around the farm next time. Perhaps we will have ... Disliked: Absolutely nothing! We had a great time. |

A lovely break with amazing scenery Sarah B. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The views were breathtaking, the field was perfect for my little ones to explore in safety. We didn't feel like we were being overlooked and were left to enjoy our time. Will be back! Disliked: There's nothing to dislike as long as you come prepared for bare basics, toilets are cleaned regularly and drinking water is available. Bin bag provided for your rubbish and bags are regularly collected. Be warned, if you have young children they might have trouble sitting on the toilets and will need assistance getting up and also using a eco-system, non-flushable loo! |

Liked: I stayed from the 1st July till the 8th of september, To work in weymouth. Disliked: Moaning pepole who go camping and expect everything at their feet. |

Liked: Lovely view of river and fields. 24 hour garage mini market 5 minutes walk, as is bus stop for 10 minute ride to the beach and town. Farmer P and her extensive knowledge of all things Weymouth and great farm shop and breakfasts. Disliked: The shower facilities at the leisure center over the road. The staff seem to have a very low opinion of campers and the showers are of a run down school standard. The dog kennel is pretty loud for about an hour in the morning and the proximity to town does mean a bit of traffic noise. |

Liked: the views from the field were beautiful, and the eco toilets worked well enough, but were abused by other campers, far enough from main road to be safe for the children. Disliked: Farm shop hardly ever open, only saw farmer P when she emptied eco toilets, and complained about them being abused by children, although it wasn't ours! The site is very easily missed through bad signposting and no indication of campsite only farm shop, and the lane leading to farm track in a bad state of disarray, needing to be resurfaced. |

Lovely friendly Farm! helen w. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The site is surrounded by green rolling hills, and quiet and peaceful. A fantastic location, but it is just a field - don't go there expecting anything more! The compost loos were fine, they didn't smell and are far better than porta loos. Our three year old made friends and ran arround the site, it felt safe and we really enjoyed our stay! Disliked: nothing! although I would take insect repellent if I were to go again! |

Liked: The views are amazing Disliked: nothing about the campsite at all - the leisure centre facilities arent the best but when camping i think any shower is better than no shower. I got the impression they are old changing facilities that they now allow campers to use - their members certainly dont use them. I was always the only one in there, there are plugs - which i used to charge my phone - and an ok-ish wall hairdryer. Not a dislike as such ... |

Friendly. Lovely views. Quiet. Good site for visiting the Olympics. Catherine R. (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Being greeted by chirpy chickens on arrival - a delight!, and a friendly farmer to book us in. Found a good level pitch for our camper even though the field is on a hill. Disliked: The shower facilities at the community college are in desperate need of an upgrade. |

Pretty good campsite in a good location. Lauren M. (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The Eco toilets, views, not too busy Disliked: Having to pay for the showers when you are told that they are free!! This really annoyed me as it even says on the website they can be used for free. At the time we did not have any money on us which was quite embarrassing!
From the manager...
Unfortunately Redlands Sports centre drop the charges on me due to the olmpics I have not had time to go through all my web sites and remove the free bit as they were last year but I made sure that every person that was booked in was told this so everyone knew of the charge of which I have no control over so my aplogys that you were embarassed |

Clean and basic with lovely views - a new site with promised improvements for next year. Wendy B. (Mature couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The view from the camp site of the Wey Valley was really beautiful. Wide open camping fields which were accessable despite heavy rain. A well stocked farm shop that cooks breakfasts and roast dinners to order. A friendly hard working farm owner - a good role model for our daughters ! Disliked: The peace was ruined by very noisy generators used by two different sets of campers which went on until the early hours. I would not wish to camp on the site again if generators are allowed next year. Maybe putting groups with generators in a distant field all together would be the answer that allows everyone else a peaceful nights sleep. |

what an experience Katie J. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Beautiful area overlooking green hills, close to Weymouth and all it's activities, sandy beaches and rockpool beaches, lots of places to eat out, local to supermarket Disliked: MUD AND TOILETS ! After several years camping with children on sites with facilities, this is the first time camping in a field with no facilities. It's difficult to review as I love camping and all that comes with it, but think next time I will go back to a site with facilities. Sadly while there we experienced a lot of rain, which the farmer/field were not equipped to deal with, resulting in our ... |

Liked: Everything about this site! The site was lovely and quiet and the views were amazing. Pip the Farmer was lovely and very welcoming, showing us all the animals, and letting our toddler help her collect eggs. Will be coming back next year! Disliked: The inconsiderate and selfish people who left the toilets dirty - not the campsite's fault. |

Picturesque views from campsite. Relaxing and peaceful. Richard_H0 (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: This was our first holiday in a tent as a family with two young daughters (10 & 6) so we didn't know how it would turn out. Best decision we have made as the holiday was better fun than previous holidays we had at Haven and Butlins. Our girls made friends on site and they played more traditional games, and there was plenty of space for them to play in. Girls always went to sleep ... Disliked: It rained on Wednesday night and the road up to the campsite just after the gate became a bit boggy which could be a problem. We just about made it in a vectra. |

Liked: Great location near Weymouth - we cycled back and forth to Portland etc. And there's a Morrisons just down the road for all your grub n grog. Disliked: There was only 1 portaloo for a lot of people. Probably OK for out of season, but by Monday in August... |

really good little spot donna13 (With friends, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: it was easy to find and the field was in a great spot close to weymouth. I liked that you could walk down to the river which we went and sat at for a little bit. Disliked: There was only one toilet which was ok because there wasnt too many campers on the site but if it was busy it would be a bit of a problem. |

Good, laid-back, farm-based campsite rjp503 (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: The campsite was very laid-back (literally just a field, with a clean portaloo and a drinking water tap), with lovely sunset and views over the fields. Nice to be on a farm campsite where you are not surrounded by masses of other groups, campervans etc - there were about 6-8 other groups in the field with us. Disliked: They could signpost things a little better, in terms of the entrance from the road, and where the drinking water tap is - minor comments! |

Their was one problem when children were seen playing around and in toilets which was swiftly sorted when I found out about it this is a working livestock farm this is a farm track the fields are open this year slightly longer then normal because of the olympics. as soon as the campers go home my cattle come back into the fields The farm shop is open every afternoon thursday friday morning and and all day saturday I keep it closed on sunday unless Im doing breakfast as its the only chance I get to do the house work I only have one pair of hands and I have a 91 year old mother that I look after I am not working 24 hours for anyone No I have not got an all singing and dance sign out the front for a good reason. Im never going to please evryone.
