- Basic site with pitches in a well-kept grass field overlooking the sea
- A mile from the beach and pub at Trebarwith Strand
- Hot food and fun games at the on-site footgolf course
Big Dunk likes to play games. Specifically, he loves a game of footgolf on a sunny day. Yes that’s right, footgolf. For the uninitiated, it’s (perhaps unsurprisingly) a mash-up of football and golf, with players aiming to get the ball in the hole with as few kicks as possible. It will take you about two hours to get round the 18-hole course as you progress from easy targets to more challenging holes with obstacles including walls, hedges, a tunnel and the dreaded water feature. You’ll pick it up as you go along, but one of the main things to know about footgolf is that it’s fairly hilarious entertainment.
Something else that Big Dunk likes is looking at the sea. He likes it so much, in fact, that he decided to combine two of his favourite things and open his own footgolf course a mile from the Cornish coast, up on a slight hill so that he gets some great sea views. And so that you too can share in the big guy's happy place, he’s now inviting you to come and stay at Big Dunk's Sea View Campsite.
It is (by Big Dunk’s own admission) a fairly basic site, but the two well-kept grass fields (one dog-free) have plenty of space for you to set up all your kit and have a good old run around (kids, dogs and indeed adults if you feel so inclined). There are hand-pump flushing toilets in a trailer unit, as well as a kitchen sink unit with mains water and a mains tap. The site doesn't have showers, but a leisure centre is four miles away and the sea within 15 minutes' walk.
When it’s time for a spot of nosh, you’re welcome to light up a barbie on your pitch, or you can pick up hot food to take away. (The famed pulled pork rolls, made with free-range meat from Dunk’s own farm and topped with cheese and crispy onions, are really rather spectacular). The site also sells drinks and scrummy Cornish ice cream.
If you’d prefer to eat out, take a 15-minute stroll down a quiet lane and across farmland to get to Trebarwith Strand beach and the Port William Inn where you can feast on pub classics or fresh local seafood while looking out over the sea.
If all of this sounds appealing, make haste – Big Dunk’s Sea View Campsite is a pop-up that’s only around for a few weeks in the summer.

Good site with a nice view.

Council waste collection center is less than 1 mile away and open Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon. I am a farmer not a bin man, my field has amazing views of the coast, a toilet and mains water with a sink for less than half the price of a big commercial campsite. I will supply you with a bin bag if you forgot one but I do ask you take away all your own rubbish, (you can leave glass bottles and tins in my recycle bins and people without cars I help out for sure). 99% of my guests are fantastic but this rude family have really upset me when they left their rubbish in my field without a word to me, it is an AONB and fly tipping is a criminal offense, if you can't take away all your rubbish then please stay somewhere else

The site is easy to find: on the B3263 between Tintagel and Camelford, you will see signs for Foot Golf.
The No 95 bus stop is a few yards from the site entrance.
If travelling by train it's possible from Bodmin Parkway station to get the 95 via bus 55 to Camelford or the 11A to Wadebridge.
Footgolf isn’t the only game that Big Dunk enjoys – he’s also rather partial to paintball, laser tag and combat archery, so he’s set these up on another site (called Big Dunk's Paintball) five miles away. Active types can also learn how to stand up on the water with a surf lesson from the experts at Trebarwith Sands Surf School, a mile from the site.
It will take you about 40 minutes to walk to Tintagel Castle from your pitch – wander among the ruins of the castle itself and the Dark Age settlement, and hear about how the legend of King Arthur became linked with this place. Later on, take a picnic down to the beach or walk a little further along the South West Coast Path to see if you can spot seals in the water.
Another good place to go for a walk is St Nectan’s Glen, a 45-minute walk or 10-minute drive away. Here you can walk through woods and along the banks of the river Trevillet to find waterfalls, a hermitage and maybe even some of the fairies that are rumoured to live around here.
Further otherwordly exhibits are on display at the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Boscastle, 15 minutes’ drive away. It’s got over 3,000 items in its collection, including charms, crystal balls and protective talismen crafted by soldiers on the front line in World War I.
If your interests lie more with World War II, plot a course instead for the Davidstow Airfield & Cornwall At War Museum to see all sorts of memorabilia including uniforms, planes, posters and recreations of life in the officers’ mess and the sleeping quarters.
