  • Pop-up site in a peaceful village near St Austell, Cornwall
  • A five-minute drive to the Eden Project; 15 minutes to Porthpean beach
  • Streamside pitches with wifi and electric car charging
Tucked away by a stream in a secluded garden, Eden’s Walk at Rowan Cottage is a pop-up micro-site set deep in Cornish countryside near St Austell. As well as peace and quiet, it has one very big USP – it’s only a five-minute drive or a half-hour walk from the fabulous Eden Project – where you can easily spend a day pottering around the world’s largest indoor rainforest. Set in the village of Trethurgy, the wild camping garden has easy access to the Clay Trails, a series of walking and cycling routes connecting up Cornwall’s china clay-mining heritage. For a back-to-basics site, this one is surprisingly well equipped. For a start, there’s a decent wifi connection and charging facilities for your devices if you need to touch base with home. There’s also ice-pack freezing on hand, as well as chemical disposal, recycling and a charging point for electric cars. You’ll certainly never starve here either; there’s use of a barbecue (pick up essentials in St Austell, 10 minutes’ drive). There’s no real reason to cook, though, with a winery (five minutes) close by offering a Sunday carvery as well as award-winning English wines, and a homely pub in the neighbouring village of Luxulyan (ten minutes) that serves local meats and fish as well as welcoming kids and dogs.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked: Mike and Fran were so incredibly accommodating and lovely. They went above and beyond to make our stay fun and enjoyable and were even kind enough to drop up down to the Eden project for the Eden sessions and walked down to meet us once it was done so that we didn’t get lost on our way back to the site! The campsite itself is really great with everything you could need. Thank you both for making us feel so at home for the weekend - we can’t wait to come and stay with you again! Amazing ❤️

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked: Even before my arrival I was greeted by a very warm and accommodating email adjusting my booking to my benefit. On arrival I was immediately welcomed, engaging with the friendly couple who own the campsite and they're fun pets. I was taken aback by how well facilitated the site was, with novel toilet, shower and washing areas. The pitches themselves were well kept, neighbouring a beautifully relaxing running stream. The other campers on the site were also extremely friendly and considerate. Having walked the scenic route to and from the Eden Project late in the evening, the owners were comprehensive to ensure we were safe and well. Pur departure followed a lovely chat and hug. You were made to feel like you were visiting family friends instead of a business. Cannot recommend enough!

From the manager: Very moved by your review Amelia, thank you and glad you liked the bijou loo (Percy you still have a job though) . . . ! We've had a manic weekend with 2 Eden Sessions, but campers like yourself make it all worthwhile! See you again soon from Mike, Fran, Faith and Bess.
