  • Peaceful family pop-up campsite with spectacular Bodmin Moor views
  • A 10-minute drive to Liskeard; 35 to the Eden Project
  • Showers and washing-up sinks on site; pub and shop five minutes’ drive
Edging Bodmin Moor in a peaceful, scenic corner of Cornwall near Liskeard, Pipers is all about a back-to-basics camping experience in a 3.5 acre field with cracking views over neighbouring farm fields to Dartmoor. The entrance to the site is on an unadopted country lane, so there’s no traffic noise and no street lights, just honest-to-goodness fresh air – and when the night sky is clear, the chance to do some serious stargazing. With no formal pitches, you can pitch up anywhere in the field to suit your camping requirements – please note some pitches are on a slight slope. Being a no-frills sort of place, there is no electricity but you are welcome to bring a firepit and a barbecue with you, and you do have access to a toilet and shower block as well as cold-water sinks for washing up. Pensilva village (five minutes’ drive) offers a basics shop, pub and a takeaway fish and chip van (Thursday night only). For major supermarket restocks, head for Liskeard (10 minutes’ drive), where you can pick up takeaways for all tastes, from kebabs to Indian, Chinese and pizza, and there are a few pubs for enjoying a crafty pint. A couple of site rules: dogs must be kept on leads, and please keep noise to a minimum between 11pm and 8am.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely basic site with immaculate clean toilets, stunning views and far away from the madness of the busy seaside resorts, yet only 30 min drive from looe if you want the coast. Access road is only advisable for cars with decent ground clearance,so no lowered suspension vehicle here.owners are on hand to help and keep the place real clean.amazing value at £15 per night, had owls flying around at dusk which was fab and lots other wildlife, firepits were provided f.o.c. toilets were clean and the 2 showers hot and warm.it is a small site so the limited toilets/showers caused us no problems. It is back to nature and a great place to reset and forget about the mad world we live in. Washing up facilities only had cold water but we just boiled a kettle so no issue from us. We absolutely loved our stay on this hidden jem and will spread the word to friends and family

Disliked: Nothing to dislike from us

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: What a fantastic 5 day stay at pipers! We were instantly blown away with the views and tranquility at this hidden gem. We love camping and this has by far been the best location. The facilities were a true luxury, hot showers and clean facilities, without taking away the true experience of camping. Dan and Sheila went out of their way to accommodate all of our needs and their recommendations for where to visit were great 😊 you really were AMAZING! We had a fab time and are already talking about booking our next visit!

Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: How isolated and quiet it was

Disliked: The very rough and rocky road leading to the campsite

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the isolation & tranquility of the site. In relation to access we will request a change to pitch up to say it is down an unmade / unadopted country lane.Prior to opening we undertook a lot of repairs to the lane to make it more smooth/accessible. We are now awaiting for the council/ highways to alter their drainage at the top of the lane. It is excess water off this which is causing the problems going down the lane.Once this as been addressed we will be able to make further repairs..

Great site, really clean & easy drive to local places,

Local attractions

Staying at Pipers, you’re in pole position for beaches on both coasts: head south for the tidal swimming pool at Polperro (35 minutes' drive) or the sands at Looe (25 minutes), where you can go kayaking on sheltered waters. Turn north for famous surfing beaches like Perranporth (an hour) and Fistral (an hour) in Newquay, or have fun paddleboarding and boating on Siblyback Lake (20 minutes). Chances are you’ll want to visit the rare plantings and vibrant sculptures in the futuristic glass biomes at the Eden Project (35 minutes); other cultural attractions in these parts include the gorgeous gardens and woodland walks at the Victorian National Trust-owned Lanhydrock (half an hour). Kids behaving well? Reward them with a visit to the cuddly furry animals at Tamar Valley Donkey Park (20 minutes), and wear them out on the zipwires at Adrenalin Quarry Ltd (15 minutes). Take toddlers to the indoor fun park at Trethorne Leisure Park (half an hour), where they can also try their little hands at pony riding or bowling.
