If you’re looking for a smallish holiday park in a quieter location, but with easy access to a good range of facilities, have a butcher’s at Landguard Holidays on the Isle of Wight. This Park Resorts group site nestles in pretty woodland and has its own outdoor and indoor pools (plus curly whirly slide), a good playground and activity clubs for children up to the age of 11, amusements, a bar, restaurant and takeaway.
In peak season, there are family shows in the evenings in the Jesters Club (at quieter times, guests have access to the other Park Resorts group site next door, Lower Hyde Holiday Park, which offers live entertainment all year).
Nearby attractions and activities
Landguard Holiday Park is only a mile from the centre of Shanklin, where guests will find excellent shopping, a pretty seafront and sheltered sands - there’s even a lift to transport holidaymakers to the clifftops to take in the amazing views across the bay. Visitors may feel the need to make repeat trips to Shanklin’s Old Village, to sample a decent number of the quaint tea rooms and classic pubs set amidst the impossibly cute thatched cottages...
Also well worth a trip are Alum Bay, famed for its rainbow sands, majestic stone Needles, chair lift and other family attractions; and the Victorian seaside town of Ventnor, a favourite holiday spot of Charles Dickens, with its 22 acres of beautiful botanic gardens.

Nice setting, very tired facilities. Geared to owners not tourers. Compass (Extended family, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: The setting and location, the staff were friendly and doing their best with what was available. Disliked: The facilities are "tired" harking back to the 1950's. Inadqequate changing facilities for the swimming pool, missing tiles and loose paving around the outdoor pool. There is no service point for motorhomes other than a manhole in the main driveway. Inflated bar and food prices, you can buy a jar of coffee for the price of a cup of it. Everything seemed geared to "owners" and not tourers. |
