  • Dog-friendly farm site in the Cheshire countryside
  • Half an hour’s drive to BeWILDerwood Cheshire; 45 minutes from Chester
  • Access to walking and cycling paths; farm shop and country pubs nearby
Rural’s the spirit at Wild Meadow Glamping in the Cheshire countryside… here, your new temporary abode is a peaceful farm site with flat and well-kept grounds, basic facilities and an attractive selection of local trails accessible from the site, whether for walks short or long or two-wheeled adventures (your call…). While this is a quiet corner of the countryside, you certainly won’t feel cut off here, as the site is 15 minutes’ drive away from Junction 18 on the M6. Dogs also have a place but guests must keep them on a lead at all times. This site keeps things low-key on the facilities front, as the focus is on some proper outdoor relaxation (that means access just to clean and functional toilets). Open-air dining will be on the cards if you like, as you’re welcome to bring a barbecue or gather the gang around for a cosy evening by the firepit as the sun goes down over the Cheshire plains. For farm produce to go on the grill, there’s a popular farm shop and café five minutes’ drive away. Over that way, the Hopley House Shopping Village has everything from gifts and a ladies’ boutique to furniture, craft classes and dog accessories, silks and flowers in the shops. As for country pubs, well, there are three of those a short drive away from the site too.

Buttercup bell tent

Liked: Everything about it, The views, surroundings and space was beautiful, The owners were fantastic and helpful The tent was amazing, decorated beautifully and had lots of added extras

Disliked: I wouldn’t say disliked- but a huge improvement would be having the opportunity to purchase breakfast hampers with fresh local produce in the mornings, and having slightly later check outs (they allowed us to leave a little bit later which was amazing)

Buttercup bell tent

Liked: We stayed as a family of 4 plus dog, in Buttercup bell tent. The site was lovely, lots of space between pitches, long grass on the meadow adding to privacy, clean facilities, friendly animals, peaceful and calm atmosphere. Very slight road noise but didn't disturb us. The open roof shower was a delight! The tent was great - everything you might need, with stylish touches to add to the feeling of glamping! The owners were absolutely lovely and made us feel very welcome. I hadn't realised kids bedding wasn't included but they found us some without a problem. They were on hand and kind and friendly.

Local attractions

With all of the outdoors immediately around the site, you’ll already have this natural adventure ground at your fingertips, but when the kids are after somewhere with playgrounds of the manmade kind, BeWILDerwood Cheshire (half an hour’s drive) fits the bill nicely, as this treehouse-themed place should bring games to life pretty well. There’s another playground at the Crocky Trail (35 minutes), or you could try The Ice Cream Farm (35 minutes) – as the name gives away, this place is rather well-known for its ice creams, of which there are over 40 flavours (maybe just don’t attempt to try them all at once if you’re planning on making the most of the quad bikes or visiting the farm animals…). Down for some more action, this time in the form of lakeside walks, animals and more playgrounds? The 19th-century Cholmondeley Castle Gardens (half an hour) has all three. Meanwhile, Trentham Estate (35 minutes) has a whole different combo – and one that’s quite unusual, as it includes gardens, a shopping village, events and a monkey forest. Yes, that’s with real monkeys. Over Chester way, there’s the classic Chester Zoo (45 minutes) for animals galore, or the walled cathedral city itself (45 minutes) too.
