  • Simple stays on a family-friendly site in the countryside
  • Within walking distance of a boating lake, the river Trent and pubs
  • Easy access to walking paths; barbecues are permitted on site
Simple stays within easy reach of peaceful strolls are the speciality at Camping Nottinghamshire. The Nottinghamshire countryside has won over many hearts over the decades – just take a look at those fens, lakes, Wolds and market towns, and it’ll be clear why. Among all of this splendidness is this dog-friendly site, set in a peaceful area and excellently spacious. All you need are your legs to stroll around the local woods, a good appetite for all those local pubs and perhaps a barbecue if you’re keen to take on the role of chef for the trip. There’s plenty around the local area to keep guests occupied (and wide-eyed). Within walking distance is a 100-acre boating lake, fisheries and an alpaca farm. If a long stroll around the river Trent sounds like a pretty splendid day out to you, the riverside path is only 35 minutes’ walk away too. A 200-year-old country village pub might also be on the menu; it’s 20 minutes’ drive away. Another pub is within 40 minutes’ walk of Camping Nottinghamshire. If you already appointed a group chef, there are restaurants five minutes’ drive away in Collingham.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Nothing!

Disliked: Booked for one night, got there and called the number as asked to do but sounded like a child answered the phone and no answer after that, I was sat out side for an hour waiting to try and get into the campsite before I gave up and found another place to go. They took my money but I still haven't got a refund after 3 weeks!. I would definitely not recommend this site to stay, there is a reason why it's cheap and I've learnt my lesson from this experience. I got a text message from a different number I was given later that night apologising for the inconvenience and saying they would refund me but after 3 weeks later I still haven't had anything back from them. Feels like a bit of a scam to me so please beware of this site, the name is different to advertised on pitch up and I couldn't find them on Google maps, very hard to find them if you haven't been there before. I would give 0 stars if that was an option.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Booked at the last minute a few days before the August Bank Holiday, £12 per night wth EHU. Spalford Warren Nature Reserve right on your doorstep. About a 20 minute drive into Lincoln. Stayed for 3 nights in our motorhome, got the awning up, chilled out & had a BBQ. Field is secure, plenty of space if you had children with you for them to play football/games & run around etc. Drinking water, Elsan disposable & wheelie bins for rubbish/recycling provided. Unisex toilets & 1 separate shower with sink provided. Can recommend The White Hart pub in Scarle, Madame Waffle in Lincoln City Centre & The Dambusters Inn in Scampton. Ps think you are allowed to take dogs as a couple arrived with a tent & they had a dog with them.

Disliked: Hard to find when you've not been before, especially in the dark & it's not signposted as Camping Nottinghamshire. Given "barrier code" prior to arrival, code is actually for some posh looking electric gates not a barrier, signposted as Nottinghamshire Nature Lakes, bang opposite the sign for Spalford Warren Nature Reserve. EHU is very temperamental kept tripping but not too bad once we realised not to have the kettle on at the same time as the water heater or toaster etc Take your own loo roll with you when you go to the toilet as none in either cubicle for the 3 nights we were there

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Nothing that we didn't provide ourselves.

Disliked: Very hard to find as there was no name for the campsite when booking. The main electricity box was not turned on before we arrived so I had to do it myself ( the box needs repairing looked very dangerous). Very hard to get hold of people, the number given of the page we booked and told to contact sounded like a child. Was not given any information how how to enter/ exit the gates and had to wait 30mins for someone to answer the phone before we could leave. Dogs did bark on occasion throughout the night, but did wake up one morning to have 2 large dogs outside the tent chained together. I'm guessing the site states no toilet on site so you can't complain about it!! There is a swing in the field , both seats are broken and the frame is very loose! I did find another page for this site that is no longer in use where the last reviews are from July 2022. All of the issues we encountered seem to be the same from then so no improvements have been made since.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Nice clean well kept site. Great value for money. Left alone to get on with our camping. Looked at a bad review before coming. Not true there's 16 amp hook up. Not heard dogs barking day or night. There is a shower and toilet on site and was very clean. Did not use, as my camper van is self contained. Would go back again nothing wrong with this site. Good walking in the woods behind lot's of different trails to follow. WiFi full bars and 4G.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: The site was amazing! Great space and use of toilets was a bonus as said no toilet facilities onsite. Great location too.

Disliked: Disaster nights sleep as they seem to have dogs somewhere on the site which are held outside at night!!! Barked nearly all night!! No signal or barely a bar on phone too!

Local attractions

If you’re a big hiker, and you very well might be if you’re staying at Camping Lincolnshire, Hill Holt Wood (15 minutes’ drive) has 34 acres of woodland for you to get acquainted with. Perhaps you want wildlife watching opportunities mixed in with your strolls too - RSPB Langford Lowfields (10 minutes), a restored quarry, has a huge reed bed and creatures like cuckoos, warblers, sand martins and hobbies. In the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB (55 minutes), there’s lots more in the way of hikes. The low hills have woodland trails and paths leading between gorgeous market towns; you’re sure to find a few tasty snacks passing through. The same can be said of Newark-on-Trent (20 minutes), a town with a gorgeous marketplace and lots of independent shops and cafés. The ruined Newark Castle is a staple piece in the town, along with its regular antiques fairs. Lincoln (20 minutes) is lovely too, of course, and it has a big number of historic sites, including the printed books library of Lincoln Cathedral and the Magna Carta and Victorian prison in Lincoln Castle.
