  • Chatsworth House and Haddon House both 20 minutes’ drive
  • Ice cream sold on site; access to Lathkill Dale via the camping fields
When you’re keen to get out exploring the Derbyshire Dales, you can’t get much closer to them than Haddon Grove Farm Campsite. This welcoming, family-run caravan and camping site has direct access to spectacular Lathkill Dale from the pitches. Located on a dog-friendly working dairy farm – you are welcome to meet the cows, horses and chickens – with views to the hills and dales of the Peak District National Park, the site was established in the early 1950s and has gone from strength to strength ever since. There are separate fields for family use – with play areas and rope swings – and others for group bookings, ensuring nobody gets disturbed on site. Facilities run to a shower block and wash room, and as barbecues are allowed by the pitches in the camping fields (source any foodie bits in the pretty town of Bakewell, 10 minutes’ drive), firepits can be hired on site. Logs are sold from the small on-site shop, which – more importantly for the kids – also stocks tasty ice cream from a local farm.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: We love this campsite. Beautiful views and a down to earth approach to providing a great place to stay. Simple facilities, that do the job (hurrah for the smart new toilets closer to the camping field!) and you can have a firepit. Really a lovely spot for a walk down into Lathkill Dale or to just hang out on the tops having a chill time.

Liked: We've just come home from a 1 night stay and the site was perfect. Warm welcome on arrival, loads of space, new toilet block was nice and clean. Reasonably priced. Location was brilliant, loads to discover right on the sites doorstep with great pubs in walking distance. We will definitely be visiting again soon!

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Booked as a cheeky get away with friends On arrival we were met by Amy and directed to our pitches. Even though we had not booked electrics, we were able to upgrade. Which was brilliant. Knowing we were travelling together Amy had also reserved two pitches together. The pitches were lovely and clean and nicely spaced out and a big bonus being level. We were also able to rent a firepit as when we unpacked ours it had holes in. Very dog friendly. All in all the campsite is in a beautiful area and so peaceful, the sunset was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for Amy and her husband. We have booked to go back.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Having stayed here on numerous occasions with our children 30+ years ago it was lovely to return and see the young farmers daughter all grown up, running the dairy farm & campsite with her hubby & 5 children!! It is rustic, has a lovely charm about it and has no silly rules or hidden costs. The location and walks directly from the site are spectacular. The new pristine loo block is a great addition. We really enjoyed going back after so many years, best of luck to Amy & family, you have a jewel in the crown at Haddon Grove, we will be back!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: A lovely owner with ideal supplementary diversification of a family run farm. Hard standing tracks ensured pitches were accessible despite incredibly wet few months. Toilets within campsite - very clean and well maintained. Camping was free to choose a pitch within two camping fields once checked in on arrival. Plenty of space and great value stay. Thank you!
