National Parks

If you can't decide where you want to camp in Britain, make your choice according to a National Park. There are 14 across England, Scotland and Wales, all offering plenty of camping options, with a new in the South Downs. Pick the one you want to go to, what you want to see and what activities you want to do, and check out local camping in the area. Alternatively, start by searching for all holiday parks and campsites within 15 miles of a National Park.

As with all activities available around the country, National Parks are diverse and wide-ranging enough to suit everybody, and are the perfect place to stay for a camping holiday. Walking and hiking has something different in all parks - walk through forest or along a cliff path. Birdwatching enthusiasts will find plenty to see throughout the parks. If mountain biking's your thing there are dozens of trails in parks all around the country. There's ample fishing available as well as Blue Flag beaches, or you could go canoeing in Dartmoor or see prehistoric hillforts in Northumberland.

Anyone interested in climbing or caving can take a holiday in Exmoor or the Peak District parks, or you could try caving at the Yorkshire Dales, where you can also see waterfalls, ravines and thousands of archaeological features. If you're still spoilt for choice, try The New Forest, established in 2005, or Britain's biggest wetlands area, the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads.
