You should, of course, settle for stays at this Basque Country site because of its proximity to the splendid seaside town of San Sebastián, about 15 minutes' drive along the coast: the fab coastal resort has been lauded as the most swish in all of Spain and was a European Capital of Culture in 2016.
However. A stay at Camping Oliden will also have you surrounded by fishing villages and mountains, in an area well known for its hiking and cycling (local town Oiartzun is on the world-famed St James's Way pilgrimage route), and a simple 15-minute drive to the French border. Basque Country, seaside and French days all in one stay? Ooh la la.
You can say a temporary and gleeful adiós to your four wheels when bunking down at this scenic family site, as Oliden's locale in the Oarsoaldea region has easy access to the beaches of San Sebastián, Hondarribia and Hendaye, via the local bus service that runs between them stopping at the site entrance. Local town Oiartzun is a cinch to reach by public transport too, and even supplies are easily sorted without having to use any sort of engine at all, as the local supermarket is a mere 100 metres away.
And if you can't even be faffed stirring as far as that? Settle your leisurely self down instead at the terrace of Oliden's bar-restaurant, for drinks, eats and free wifi, or take your swimsuited self over to the outdoor pool for dips. Both sunny and shaded spots are easily found on site too if your inclination is to hide away for a peaceful siesta.

As it's around 15 minutes by car to the French border from here, the site's within easy reach of French coastal towns and beaches such as Hendaye (12 kilometres), Saint-Jean-de-Luz (24 kilometres) and Biarritz and Anglet (both 41 kilometres).
It's a short drive or bus ride too to spectacular San Sebastián, the vibrant coastal city known for its beaches, such as La Concha and its fab views over the bay; Zurriola, for surfing, and Ondarreta, with vintage funfair and scenic funicular rides up Mount Igueldo.
Also in San Sebastián is Miramar Palace, a late 19th-century English-style royal holiday home built during the time of Queen María Cristina; an aquarium filled with sharks, rays and tropical fish; San Telmo Museum, set in the Old Town and exhibiting Basque archaeological collections, and several internationally famed festivals of music, film, sport and culture.
Pamplona, around an hour's drive away, is known for its week-long San Fermín festival in July, celebrating the heritage of the area via various folkloric events including the running of the bulls.
