Liking the sound of a glampsite tucked away in native pine forest? A glampsite that gives you a peaceful base for exploring Andalucia, and yet is close to a sandy beach? Step forward Camping Conil, 10 minutes’ drive from lively Playa de la Fontanilla beach and the pretty ‘white town’ of Conil de la Frontera. Yes, family-friendly Camping Conil provides a touch of luxury in stylish accommodation – each unit with its own private seating area under the shade of trees. You can pretty much park your car, drop off your luggage and start your holiday straight away. But where to head first? Perhaps the swimming pool for a refreshing dip – and if that’s not enough to keep the kids occupied, join daily organised activities run by the in-house entertainment team. If you’re still looking for more action, find the sports courts to play padel, or hire a bike from reception to explore the Andalucian countryside. Staff there can also arrange all sorts of other sporty stuff like surfing lessons and pony trekking. Left anything vital behind at home? Chances are you’ll find it in the well-stocked on-site supermarket. No need to stir from the glampsite to eat, either. 喜欢 Salvo lo que se describe a abajo, nos gustó todo.

不喜欢 Nos pusieron cerca de la puerta y permitían que entraran coches después de las doce. Toda la noche la gente abriendo y cerrando la cancela con el ruido que conlleva y encima se quedaban a charlar. Que se permitiera entrar coches en el aparcamiento no nos dejó descansar. La próxima vez pediremos estar lejos de la puerta de entrada.

Should you feel the need to move from your little patch of pine-scented forest, Conil de la Frontera (10 minutes’ drive) is an Andalucian ‘white town’, with winding streets leading to the squat Torre de Guzmán – once part of the defence fortifications – and the sparkling-white, 15th-century Church of Santa Catalina. Learn about local tuna-fishing traditions at La Chanca – a former fish-processing factory and now an interactive museum – and then head for the beach at Cala Encendida cove (15 minutes) or the sandy expanse at Playa Fuente del Gallo (10 minutes). Linger in the evening to join the nightly parade from tapas bar to tapas bar along the seafront. Venture further afield to spectacular Cádiz (35 minutes) to tour the Teatro Romano, Castillo de Santa Catalina and Catedral de Cádiz (climb the Poniente Tower for views out over the city to the sea). When all the culture has been attended to, head for La Viña for dinner in the lively Plaza de Santa María Square, or have a potter around shops and bars in the labyrinthine Barrio del Pópulo (Old Town).
