The popular resort of Balatonlelle has plenty going on for the whole family: choose from an assortment of beaches within easy strolling distance, spend the afternoon on the waterslides and big wheel at Balatonlelle Napfény Strand (five minutes’ drive) and hit the lakeside promenade at dusk to watch the colourful sunset. Keep an eye open for festivals and open-air concerts too. Head for Balatonlelle Harbour (also five minutes) and take boat trips around the lake’s shoreline or romantic sunset cruises, or head up to Kishegyi Kilátó Balatonlelle (15 minutes) for far-reaching views over vineyards to the lake. If you’d like to sample some local wines, there’s a wine cellar just by the ruined church at Rádpuszta (also 15 minutes away). There are family-friendly toboggan rides and mini rollercoasters at Balatonboglár Kalandpark Bobpálya (10 minutes), which is also home to the spherical Janus Xantos Lookout with stunning views over Lake Balaton. A little further afield, you can treat the kids to treetop rope courses and mini-train rides at Zamárdi Adventure Park (half an hour).
