Whoo, check out that waterpark – a massive 500m² pool no less, with paddling pool, waterslides and sun terrace. And it's right there on site… that should see you sorted for many hours of happy splashing. But it’s not all about the pools at Camping Côté Ô La Palmyre, mais non – around its six hectares, this place has plenty more to keep you busy. Or very busy indeed should you be here in summer, when the multisports pitch, pétanque court, table tennis, playground and games room are supplemented by heaps of organised antics including fitness classes, archery sessions and kids’ activities. The activity levels don’t go down when the sun does; pack your party dress because the bar’s open for drinks and dancing, and in summer it’s a nightly social whirl of theme nights, quizzes and music. Not worn out yet? Guests at La Palmyre can also scoot down the road to its sister site for an indoor pool (with more waterslides) and a kids’ club for the tinies. And of course there are the attractions of La Palmyre (four kilometres away) to fit in too: watersports, a zoo and an adventure park among them. Among all the activity you’ll be chuffed to hear that the site has things sorted for easy eats: take your pick from the restaurant, snack bar, pizza takeaway and crêperie, or pick up supplies from the grocery store or bakery.

Step out of the park and it’ll not take you long to stroll to more activities. Treetop clambering at Indian Forest, muddy off-road buggy drives and illuminated night-time rides at Luna Park are all within a 10-minute amble. If you want to roam a little further, hire bikes on site and pick a path: there are dedicated bike routes directly outside the site, along the Côte Sauvage to beaches, forests and lighthouses, or into La Palmyre for visits to its excellent zoo or the Youpiland kids’ fun park. The resort’s got a splendid beach too, and plenty of watersports including paddleboarding, windsurfing, and lessons for budding surf dudes and dudettes. Want to see more of the coast? Take the half-hour drive to the busy harbour and market of Royan (a fab place for foodie foraging), or to the island of Oléron for beaches and bike rides with a side order of fresh local oysters.
