Hello, eco-friendly glamping tents and clothes-free beach days… Eco Glamping Solaris in Tar, Istria, has a splendid selection of pet-friendly glamping tents on a nudist resort 100 metres from the beach. Clothes are optional around your abode, but on the five-kilometre pebble beach it’s strictly clothes off, please… The tents on this nudist resort use only natural materials and are plastic-free, so they’re thoroughly eco-friendly. Pick up fresh bread, fruit and vegetables from the site’s fruit/veg market and bakery for nibbles around the beach’s many sunbathing areas. There are motorboats, pedal boats, bicycles and other equipment for rent for those who’d like to explore the water or the local lanes. Just be sure to make it back in time for sunset, which is of course fabulous from the beach or the terraces at the front of the tents. The site also has plenty more facilities for laidback (or slightly competitive) activities, including an outdoor swimming pool, sports centre, beach volleyball pitch, miniature golf course, table tennis and eight tennis courts. It’s also handy to have restaurants on site to fall back on after all of that energy-burning stuff. The only time you'll definitely want to put your garments back on is for a trip to the city of Poreč, 20 minutes’ drive away. With an old town, sixth-century basilica and lively watersports scene, there’s plenty to do while you’re pottering around the city. When it comes to handy facilities, Eco Glamping Solaris delivers too. The tents have a fridge, a small stove, dishes, towels and bedding, access to toilets behind the tents and a car parking space next to the tent. A hairdresser, beauty salon, money exchange service, ATMs, car rental, taxi service and market are all on hand across the site.

Bet you didn’t think you’d be going underground here… Well, with impressive caves like Jama - Grotta Baredine (15 minutes’ drive) and Špilja Mramornica (25 minutes) around, you may very well be – and with lots of amazing rock formations and subterranean lakes to see along the way. Days with plenty of wildlife and a fair bit of hiking can be found nearby too. For an easy way to see some of it, Papago Park Croatia (10 minutes) shelters nearly 30 different species of birds and has a long promenade for birdwatching strolls. Heading into the forest instead, Skarline Nature Park’s (half an hour) best-kept secret is a river canyon. If the water has you craving more, continue on further to the 10-metre-high Waterfall Butori (45 minutes).
