Fulham Homestead

Fulham Homestead is an ideal base for sporty types, with hiking, fishing, biking and kayaking all available around the site. If you’re quiet as you go about your daily business, you may catch sight of wombats or koalas as well as the inquisitive wallabies and kangaroos. Rocklands Reservoir (25 minutes’ drive) is another scenic spot for swimming or fishing for cod and trout, where you can often see kangaroos grazing on the grassy shoreline. You can practise putting on the local golf course (15 minutes), or go climbing in Grampians National Park (50 minutes). While you’re there, admire the views over Lake Bellfield from the top of Halls Gap (just over an hour), or take a selfie with the spectacular MacKenzie Falls (an hour and 10 minutes) as a backdrop. Black Range State Park (half an hour) is known for its bizarre granite rock formations set among bushland, which you can explore on challenging waymarked trails or family-friendly walks; there are also several caves in the park containing sacred Aboriginal art.
