Aiming for a hol concentrating on coasteering, climbing and kayaking…? Then potter over to The Paddock in south-west Wales, a glamping site in the grounds of an 18th-century farmhouse half a mile from the village of Castlemartin and close to all sorts of adventurous pursuits in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. This dog-friendly site (mutts are most welcome to join you on an expedition here) is spread across five acres of land with lots of space for a serene stay. It's just under three miles from Freshwater West for surfing days and wanders on the Wales-wide coastal path. If your heart’s set on cycling, rides begin right from the grounds – and you’ll be in good company as the tough Iron Man Wales bike loop passes by the top of the farmhouse’s drive. Hoping for a quieter break (or just can’t bear the thought of exercise of any kind…)? Slow things down by feeding the pigs and chickens on site, visiting friendly pub hosts Gerry and Teresa down at The Speculation Inn, around a five-minute drive away, or sitting by the firepit with nothing to do but flick through a book while warming yourself up by the flames… Peaceful and secluded, The Paddock has a toilet, shower and parking facilities but there's no access to the main house so please bring everything you need for a comfy stay. If you’re hungry and don’t want to cook, a village café serving fry-ups is in Castlemartin; the nearest shop for snacks is in the town of Pembroke, a 15-minute drive away.

喜欢 Just came back from 3 nights stay in the pod warm and cosy and really clean we loved our stay there and would recommend it if in the area good value for money couldn’t fault it shower and toilet really clean if I’m back in area again I will be definitely booking this again in excellent location for beaches and Pembroke , Tenby nice pubs in area with good food

This is a prime part of Pembrokeshire for beaches, with top swimming spot Freshwater East and the cliff-framed Barafundle Bay both within a 20-minute drive of the park. Kayak on the placid waters at this stretch of shoreline or set off on a coastal walk around Stackpole Head, just around the corner, for sweeping views. For other strolls by the sea, venture down to Saint Govan's Chapel (15 minutes' drive), squeezed onto the side of a limestone cliff, or go to Green Bridge (10 minutes) to see an especially scenic natural limestone arch flanking the water. If hanging off the front of a crag sounds like your cup of tea, climb on the limestone Stack Rocks or bounce over to Bosherston (both around 10 minutes’ drive); at the latter location, you can also stroll around the lush lily ponds. For more inland touring, the medieval-era Pembroke Castle (15 minutes) is so massive that it should keep you busy for a couple of hours at least.
