Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping

喜欢: Love this site, it's absolutely massive but well planned so that there are small areas set far apart so it feels intimate. Fabulous facilities, kitchen area with fridge and freezer, kettle toaster, microwave. Undercover seating area. Walled garden area perfect for using these facilities, so nice to pop the kettle on without all the fuss of stoves. Even though you can't park your car next to your pitch, trolly's are provided to move your gear but the car park is super close to pitches anyway. Lovely to have a Fire on your pitch and you get a decent amount of logs that last all night for £10 which is a reasonable price. You can walk for around the site as its huge. I felt very safe. Loads of woods for kids to play. Midges were out in force so definitely take your repellent. Great for dogs. Walks from the site, although loads of tracks exist that are not marked on the map. Walk to Denholm is nice where you can go for food or pub but uphill on the way back. Staff were lovely and really helpful. Toilets and showers were clean and functional, I did like the underfloor heating. If you chose to camp in the woodland part it's a 15-20 min walk uphill but they will transport all your kit for you.

不喜欢: I thought it was quite expensive.
Can't understand why the woodland section is more expensive when you don't have easy access to all the facilities.

喜欢: The amenities were fantastic. Hot showers, level pitch and plenty of room. The site felt very safe and the shower and toilet blocks were lovely and clean. The pitch surrounding were beautiful. The customer service was great.

喜欢: Lovely setting and so very peaceful, we enjoyed getting away from it all, and being set away from the main site, although only 10 minutes to get to the hub from Woodland Escape, for charging phones, having a shower etc. The tent is very well equipped and comfortable, plenty of bedding and blankets and hot water bottles, which we needed even though it was August! Gorgeous walk to Denholm, which has nice friendly pub, the Cross Keys, and a playground if you have young kids. The loo was easy to use and no unpleasant smells! Younger kids would LOVE this place as freedom to roam without cars, and the chance to explore on their own, so rare these days. Highly recommend this place and we will definitely come back. Staff very helpful and accommodating, facilities clean and nice to use. Ap on the phone, sent in advance, with all the information needed, was a huge bonus, very well thought out.

不喜欢: It was too windy for an open fire on the first night, and quite windy the second night too. I'm not sure if we were unlucky or if it is a prevailing wind on Woodland Escape, it seemed to funnel over the hill directly to where the fire pit is. It would be much better moved to in front of the safari tent, so the tent acted as a windbreak, although it would of course have to be set well back.
We forgot to bring salt and pepper and oil - that would have been nice to have had in the tent kitchen, as we couldn't do the popcorn which was provided.

喜欢: Really well-kept site with great facilities, and the staff were super helpful.

不喜欢: The site got a little busy on Friday night (middle of August) but everyone seemed to adhere to the 10 pm noise restrictions and there weren't any massive queues for any facilities.
