From drinks by the sea to coastal walks or wandering around historic port towns, Milkmaid Meadow Campsite will let you tear off whichever chunk of the Devon coast you please. A 15-minute drive from Bideford, 25 minutes from Westward Ho! and 35 minutes from Exmoor National Park, this is a break with plenty of things to do in the way of walking, cycling, gliding somehow out at sea or simply hanging out somewhere nice to eat. Nature’s the star on site, as there are 22 acres of woodlands and meadows – wildlife, streams and trees included. The site has a nature trail where the showstoppers are an insect hotel and a rather pretty pond at the border of the site. Fairly simple’s the spell here, as there are two showers with hot water, composting loos and sinks for washing up. The communal firepit is also at hand but those of you looking for a more private gathering can hire out individual firepits and barbecues (firewood is available to purchase on site). Conveniently, the site has two solar-powered phone charging points and parking next to your pitch. As for food, well, the site has a spread of local produce for sale, including essentials such as eggs, meat and bread, as well as some fresh seasonal produce grown from the fat of the land you're on. Eating out instead? You may do so alongside Westward Ho! beach or one of Bideford’s cafés or restaurants. Appledore (20 minutes’ drive) and Instow (15 minutes’ drive) are also good for a foodie dive.

喜欢 Perfect site for semi wild campers that like a toilet, kitchen and shower. Amazing having all that in the middle of nowhere. Water was lovely and hot!

喜欢 What a cute campsite. Really enjoyed the simplicity. Loved the set up of the covered washing up stations, hot water, recycling and even washing up liquid and sponge if you needed.

The shower was brilliant, again hot & clean.

The toilet was really nice for a compost loo! There is a mirror and sink with soap, paper towels and lots of toilet roll. I love the idea of being up high. Best of all men and women have a toilet each rather then unisex.

Pick your own position, no allocation, much more freedom.

不喜欢 Quite open, not much natural shelter from a hedge, we pitched near the toilet entrance and just had a wire fence behind up.

Very rural, but that’s what we expected.
