This rather relaxing site is a prime choice for those looking to be lulled into a leisurely mood. Sunny Pooh Corner is but a 10-minute stroll from the Devon village of Ashwater, a peaceful spot that's home to a friendly local pub, a handy food shop and a gorgeous village green (where you can catch glimpses of far-off Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor on clearer days). Sunny Pooh Corner has plenty of pleasant vistas of its own – the folk that run this place say that there's something special to see from every pitch. This rural site is also a hub for animal life – as well as the wild critters that can frequently be seen scurrying through the long grass, Sunny Pooh Corner has horses and an inquisitive gaggle of geese to its name. Dogs are also welcome here, but please make sure to keep them on a lead. Well-kept toilets and showers are available if you haven't brought your own (a small charge applies), and water is available for guests. Barbecues are welcome here, but please keep them safely off the ground. Another option at mealtimes is sampling pub-cooked grub from the Village Inn's varied menu (highlights include locally sourced fish dishes). There's also a vineyard a few minutes' walk away that organises regular tours and tasting events.

Before wining and dining in Ashwater you might want to build up a bit of an appetite. Head to Roadford Lake (10 minutes' drive) for a spot of sport in scenic surrounds – here you can opt for waterside walks or hire a kayak from the activity centre. After a lake where you can fish? Clawford Lakes (five minutes) has 17 different pools to choose from. Or perhaps you'd rather cast your line in the briny deep? Head into Bude (30 minutes) to sort off-shore fishing trips and to be in with a chance of bringing back some fresh mackerel or bass. Make sure to check out Bude’s gorgeous sandy beaches while in town, or head down the road instead to pebbly Crackington Haven (40 minutes from base). The wide open spaces of Dartmoor National Park are also on the cards. The old fortress town of Okehampton (30 minutes) is the gateway to the park – the remains of its medieval castle still stand today and are a great vantage point over the surrounding countryside. When it comes to wild and windswept Dartmoor vistas, though, High Willhays Tor (45 minutes) is the undisputed champion.

Nearby hartland bay, we parked up by the church and took a nice stomp down, had a drink in the pub:)

喜欢: What an absolutely amazing site !! just spent 4 nights in this little gem and it's probably the best place I have ever stayed with my van, Nice and secluded with everything you could possibly want and more ! Beautiful flat pitch with ehu and water on hand , was met on arrival by the owner who promptly made us a cup of tea and took it to us on a tray . Amazing showers and washroom facilities , spotlessly clean with hotel like touches everywhere , Laundry if you need it . the resident Horses were close bye. This place is top of the list for a comfortable , relaxing stay with lovely owners who keep this site spick and Span . local pub is nearby for a lovely Sunday Lunch and the surrounding scenery and countryside is awesome , Thanks for a lovely stay and I will be back soon !

喜欢: Lovely quiet site. Very generous level pitch size. Toilet and shower was great and really clean. Not your typical building site style toilet! Great location to explore and a proper pub only 10 minutes walk away. We had a very relaxing stay. Very highly recommended. Many thanks.

喜欢: Friendly hosts who always spoke when passing the caravan.

Clean and tidy washroom facilities, love the fact the washrooms are a converted sun room / garden shed and a horse box!

Lovely quiet site, which was also well kept.

Delightful stay again - sun shone, peaceful, immaculate site.
Pot of tea 🫖 on arrival - can’t recommend this site highly enough. We will definitely be back again at some point. It’s one of our faves.
Can highly recommend a trip to Tavistock town - gorgeous independent shops.
The Village Inn - Walk to the pub isn’t far for a bite to eat or a drink. :)
