With Hexham two miles to the south and Hadrian’s Wall a mile to the north, there’s a whole lot of history in the area around Fallowfield Dene Caravan and Camping Park – and you’ll see that reflected in the fact that the various pitching areas on site have all been given suitable Roman names. This well-kept rural site is surrounded by mature woodlands, and native trees such as mountain ash and silver birch have been cleverly used around the pitches to provide landscaping, views, shelter and privacy. Naturally, that also makes the park a popular spot with local wildlife – you may well spot a fox, a badger or a red squirrel as you wander about, and may hear the distinct tapping of a woodpecker. Fallowfield Dene makes a great base from which to explore the area’s past, but the site itself is thoroughly modern, with high-spec bathroom blocks and a launderette. Large pitches have plenty of space to spread out, and they’re easy to access via well-kept park roads. How to fill your days here? Well, of course it’s a great idea to explore as many of the area’s Roman sites as possible, but there are also lots of activities like golf, fishing, walks in the North Pennines and watersports at Kielder Water. It’s also not far to get to Newcastle upon Tyne or the east coast. Please note that while children are welcome here, there isn't a play area and ball games are not allowed as space is limited. While barbecues are allowed, they must not be disposable. A maximum of two dogs are permitted per booking.

喜欢: Quiet, well established, well organized peaceful campsite. Lovely landscaping to hide its size. Excellent showers and toilet facilities. Laid-back vibe. Felt like the best of forest based European camping sites.good location

不喜欢: Seasonal caravans felt a bit twee!! Like dachaus. Not for us but a good place to escape.

喜欢: Lovely site. Great location for Hadrian's Wall. Staff were very friendly on arrival. Pitches were a generous size, with plenty of space. Toilets were clean.

不喜欢: The only thing that would have helped would be some hooks near the sinks in the washroom.

喜欢: Location convenient for our needs on this occasion as we were attending a family wedding nearby.

不喜欢: Pitch nowhere near level. No contact with site owners whatsoever, just an information sheet pinned to the reception wall upon arrival. Despite the prominent notices, children playing football. Percussion taps in the showers.

来自经理: I notice you were on pitch 7. Pitch 7 is a level pitch however, motorhome users usually carry leveling ramps as not every site has level ground & these may help you. You must have checked in before 2pm or after 5pm as these are the times we pin information sheets to our outside check-in board.
We do walk around the site & speak to customers if they are around however, we try to respect our customers privacy & we don't go knocking on doors. We are always on hand in Reception during office opening hours & on the emergency telephone number which is given at the bottom of the information sheet if our customers need us.
Did you report the children playing football ? ,this could have been reported via our reception or the telephone number given. If you had problems on site you could have reported them & given us a chance to rectify your issues.
We could have changed your pitch or helped you level your Motorhome.

We booked a hard pitch for our campervan & Awning but found it impossible to get the awning pegs in, we spent one night on here, in the morning i rang reception and asked if i could move to a grass pitch the lady was lovely and nothing was a problem, we moved pitch & it was much better.
Showers and toilets spotlessly clean, the whole site was lovely, will definitely be back😄

If the site’s Roman theme has inspired you to get out and see some of the original locations, head first to the nearest section of Hadrian’s Wall, a mile away. A little further away, drop into Corbridge Roman Town (10 minutes’ drive), the Temple of Mithras (15 minutes) and Housesteads Roman Fort (20 minutes). Hexham (10 minutes) is a historic place too, but with attractions from a different era like the abbey and Hexham Old Gaol as well as more Roman bits and pieces. For a more contemporary urban day out, make tracks to Newcastle upon Tyne (half an hour) for the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, the Discovery Museum and a whole lot of places to eat, shop and catch cultural events. Truly rural outings are easy to find too – just head a couple of miles south to the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or north to Kielder Forest Park. Kielder Water (45 minutes) has various watersports to try out, plus a bird of prey park.
