Rowter Farm Campsite

喜欢: Nice big field. Great location for walks.
Peaceful place, just birds and sheep .

不喜欢: Could do with a water pipe at least in the field. We were in a motorhome and couldn't take the vehicle into the yard to fill.

喜欢: Lovely remote site but close to Castleton
Spacious pitches

不喜欢: Duke of Edinburgh scheme was there first night so quite noisy, went quiet from approx 1015

喜欢: Easy check in, just a warning, you'll open the gate from the main road. Being a solo traveller with a dog, slight nerve wracking but theres a lay by to pull into to get it open. Drive all the way down, turn left, then left again pick your pitch and then check.

Toilets aren't far from the campsite, clean and well stocked

Simple, cheap and efficne

不喜欢: The gates a bit squeaky and if you chooses the hedges to shield from the wind, pick the furtheest spot away.

Bit of signage on the road for the campsite would be nice.

喜欢: large field, beautiful views

不喜欢: 1, no markings for pitches so while we were away people pitched within 18inches of our guy ropes both sides.
2, on our first night 50 teenagers arrived and pitched. When asked we were told they would leave in the morning, so we decided to stay and put up with the shouting and screaming involved with them playing football etc
3, on second night over 40 teenagers arrived and pitched they were even noisier
4, on third night over 60 teenagers pitched haphazardly and this time the leaders of this group organised screaming games until after 10:30
5, on the fourth night two groups of teenagers who didn't speak English pitched and screamed, shouted in a different language while entertaining themselves.

Clearly these scout and D of E groups pre booked. We only booked three days before we travelled so WHY did the site accept our booking KNOWING the site was going to be inundated with teenagers who wanted nothing better than to enjoy themselves and let off steam...which we dont actually have a problem with. Our problem was that we would NEVER have gone or even stayed on that site if we had known how busy and disturbing it would be. When my partner spoke to the owner on our fourth night to ask how many more groups were coming he was told no more. So imagine our surprise when on our 5th night another group of 40 arrived. they were then sent to pitch in an adjacent field, so it was just the noise and bad language of the leaders that troubled us.

喜欢: Perfect location. Comfortable site. Walking location to Mom Tor and more diferent location

喜欢: Lovely set in beautiful surroundings on a working farm. Facilities basic but clean. Within walking distance of Castleton but the walk back isn't for the faint hearted.

喜欢: Massive field and you can pitch anywhere.

不喜欢: Only one shower available for each sex. I had no issue and the shower was good but I can imagine there being queues at busy times.

喜欢: Great location. For views, for access to walks.
Great price.
Plenty of space in the field.
Facilities are basic, but cover what you need - we like it that way!

Not too crowded even when hope valley is.

不喜欢: Can be quite windy!
Can get a little muddy around the gate, but having been 4 years in May it's only once been annoying.
Poor phone reception (though that has its benefits too!)

喜欢: Beautiful location, Fires allowed (off ground), Close to both hills and villages.

不喜欢: V.basic facilities, coin-charge showers.
