If you’re up for a bit of back-to-basics camping and appreciate a good countryside view, Belvedere is 20 minutes’ drive from Bedford and comes up trumps on both counts. This pop-up site offers a neatly mown camping field with views over surrounding hills, forests and green fields. Facilities are minimal – a portable loo, waste point and fresh water tap – so you’ll have to be organised and bring in essentials like torches, batteries and barbecue kits. Once on site, however, you’ll soon be nicely relaxed. It’s based on a family-run equestrian farm, so you can watch the horses grazing happily in surrounding fields. The Greensand Ridge Walk goes right past the property (remember to pack your walking boots), meaning you can soon be out and about exploring the area. Belvedere is a dog-friendly site by the way, so any accompanying pooches can have a decent stretch of their paws too. By night, light a campfire, spark up the barbecue and watch the sunset. If you’d rather have someone else look after the cooking, there’s a thatched pub serving hearty food in Lidlington village (10 minutes’ walk), as well as a small store selling essentials if you’re running sort of anything.

喜欢 Excellent site and very very quiet and peaceful. Toilet facilities were basic but very well maintained, super clean!
Lucinda was very attentive and regularly walked around to make sure that everything and everyone was ok.

喜欢 Really nice space, a warm welcome and a pleasant toilet block. Very clearly marked and good facilities for water and rubbish. Nice walks all round and most of the way to the village and pub.

喜欢 Beautiful surroundings (livery stables, open fields, footpaths).
Very friendly staff and chilled atmosphere.
The toilet & washing facilities were far better than expected despite being advertised as 'Basic'.
Easy, pleasant 10-15min walk to Lidlington village where there is an excellent thatched pub and a convenience store. (allow a bit longer to get back, as the return journey is mostly uphill).

不喜欢 The gate entry/exit system is a bit confusing first time, but very secure.
However, it would certainly be unappreciated in bad weather.
