If you’re up for a bit of back-to-basics camping and appreciate a good countryside view, Belvedere is 20 minutes’ drive from Bedford and comes up trumps on both counts. This pop-up site offers a neatly mown camping field with views over surrounding hills, forests and green fields. Facilities are minimal – a portable loo, waste point and fresh water tap – so you’ll have to be organised and bring in essentials like torches, batteries and barbecue kits. Once on site, however, you’ll soon be nicely relaxed. It’s based on a family-run equestrian farm, so you can watch the horses grazing happily in surrounding fields. The Greensand Ridge Walk goes right past the property (remember to pack your walking boots), meaning you can soon be out and about exploring the area. Belvedere is a dog-friendly site by the way, so any accompanying pooches can have a decent stretch of their paws too. By night, light a campfire, spark up the barbecue and watch the sunset. If you’d rather have someone else look after the cooking, there’s a thatched pub serving hearty food in Lidlington village (10 minutes’ walk), as well as a small store selling essentials if you’re running sort of anything.

喜欢 This was an excellent place for camping. Highly recommended. There are separate fields, toilets on site just a ten second walk away. Clean. The site staffed popped over to see us and were very friendly. We loved it!

喜欢 Beautiful location, cheap. Plenty of space and has all the little things that make in convenient like clean toilets, fire ash bin, dog poop bags. We had to leave really early for an event and Lucinda was more than accommodating and really friendly and talkative. We will definitely use this place again when we come up.

I'm sorry to hear that your stay didn't quite meet your expectations, although I'm pleased you found our toilets clean and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, and found our staff friendly.

Regarding asking guests to message us when they return to the campsite, (if after 10pm) this is simply a safety measure. As a small, quiet campsite, knowing when guests have arrived back helps us ensure everyone is safe and on site if needed. We appreciate that it may not suit everyone, but the safety and security of our guests remains one of our top priorities.

喜欢 A delightful back to basics campsite right on my doorstep. I will be back soon. The facilities were pristine and there were lots of thoughtful touches. Just loved the recycling setup as well. Very reasonably priced as well, especially for a solo traveller. Plus the firewood they sell was really the best I’ve used in a very long time. Quiet and pencil and the host went out of her way to make my stay enjoyable.

喜欢 I wanted a no-frills, quiet, peaceful getaway for one night and this campsite was exactly what I needed.
It's just two fields and a toilet block - which was spotless.
Lovely walk out the back of the site, which was a massive bonus, too.
The only sound was birdsong - pure bliss.
