The staff were very friendly & helpful, that's where the positives for the campsite end unfortunately. There is a lovely walk along the River Trent & a nice pub about half a mile away which serves delicious pizzas. There's also a tea room a bit further down the road which serves breakfast & lunch.

We arrived on the Friday of the bank holiday weekend having booked to stay until the Monday. It was extremely busy & disorganised with queues to get in & queues to check in. The check in process took a while because the office doesn't appear to have a computer, all the bookings are written down in a big book & once they've found your booking, they write out a detailed receipt on carbon paper. No facility to pay by card, only cash or bank transfer. There are 3 fields but no pitches as such & you can only get electric hook up in the first field. A member of staff in a golf cart led us to a 'pitch', which was basically a space wherever there was a free hook up point. I will say that if you book a non-electric pitch & end up in the 2nd or 3rd field you will probably have a very different experience. In the first field though, it was clear they had overbooked & everyone was packed in like sardines. There were large groups of families playing loud music until well after 11pm & screaming kids everywhere. On the Saturday still more people were turning up & being squeezed in; someone was told to pitch their tent so close to the caravan next to us they had to be moved as they were about to pitch on the tenant's car space! Think of a festival campsite & you wouldn't be far off the experience we had here. The toilet facilities are totally insufficient for the number of people onsite, there are 6 toilets (3 male, 3 female) for what must have been well over 100 people. Obviously this meant queues for the toilets too & they were not well maintained so kept running out of soap, toilet roll & kitchen towel that was meant for drying hands. The refuse area is absolutely disgusting with overflowing wheelie bins & loose rubbish strewn everywhere. By Sunday morning we had had enough so booked to stay somewhere else & left a day early.

Big open space which was flat for pitching, lots of electric hook up points around the place.
Never been to a campsite with an open community kitchen, with everything you need for washing up, kettle, microwave, toaster, fridge. Even had tea coffee and bread to use if you wished!
Toilets and showers were cleaned on a VERY regular basis
Martin & Olive were super friendly and there for any questions etc.
Swings for the kids to play on in the tree, and plenty of space for ball games etc.
Everyone there was respectful, music turned down by 11pm (and it was the bank holiday weekend!).
One way road system, barrier on the entrance with codes for entry and exit keeping it safe.
Overall a lovely site will definitely be coming again

would prefer full doors on the showers as opposed to stall doors with curtains

Great informative staff on site was welcomed by Martin and explained where to park up and where was nice to walk and visit was very helpful. Great facilities toilets clean, showers great wash up room with very hot water. lots of water taps on site. great location for a riverside walking to village or to local pub. Will definitely be back again soon. Was very busy with it being a bank holiday but lots of space to spread out.

Friendly, accommodating staff on arrival.
Super choice of pitches and a high standard of cleanliness in the toilet blocks. Nice to have access to tea, coffee, toast too. Walked ten minutes to a lovely pub nearby.

Ok so we stopped at this site 3 yes ago and i left a scathing review so we thought give it another go even over the bank holiday so we knew it would be busy we stayed in the bottom field which to be fair was OK and our bit quiet compared to other areas so not a lot has changed the toilets and showers were cleaner but not enough for this site and still in a old barn so I would say still very basic facilities compared to other sites the elson point stinks and the waste disposal area is a health hazard it was bank holiday doesn't take much to order more skips in for the weekend look overall we were ok but nothing has changed still needs new facilities and more of them for the site I said it last time and I will say it again this site could offer a lot more and get the reviews but unfortunately unless investment is spent I don't see it on the plus side next to the river loads of walks and a lovely area

Value for money.

If I really had to puck something it would be the toilets - they were not very clean. The toilet bowl was clean it was the bit around the top - under the seat.

They did provide washing up liquid, soap, sponges and kitchen roll which most places don’t.

I would not recommend this campsite at all. It was massively overcrowded, probably around 1,000 people crammed in – motorhomes and tents were practically parked on top of each other. The facilities were completely inadequate. They are placed in a central “building” that looks more like a shanty town/favela that has just 3 toilets each for men and women, 2 sinks, and showers I didn’t even dare to try. Unsurprisingly, toilet roll and soap had already run out by morning. There were two washing up sinks with long queues.

The atmosphere was far from relaxing – kids were riding motorbikes around the site and others were playing loudly until very late in the evening. Definitely not the peaceful getaway we were hoping for. We had booked for two nights and decided to leave at 10am after the first night. Very poorly managed and absolutely not worth the money. Didn’t even bother asking for a refund because we felt they probably needed the money for refurbishment.

Been going to this site for a few years now. Unfortunately, the last time was absolutely awful. Arrived Friday to some campers complaining about the cost,screaming and shouting and the office staff shouting back. Next day more screaming and shouting from a person that lives on the site and again the office staff shouting back. Following day,it kicks off again when another resident was driving his car erratically around the site. A camper did manage to get the car keys,without the driver realising,but when he handed them into the office,the office chap thought it was a good idea to throw them on the roof.The police were called,but by the time they arrived,most of the campers had packed up and left. We left the next day,cutting our holiday short. Will not be going back unless there's a change in the staff running the site.
